Beyoncé shakes a purple tail feather in dramatic sheer dress with super-long train as she leads the fashion pack at Met Gala

I am Sasha Fierce! Beyoncé shakes a purple tail feather in dramatic sheer dress with super-long train as she leads the fashion pack at Met Gala

On a night when fashion's finest come out to play, there is always going to be a little competition.
And Beyonce Knowles won the fashion parade with flying colours at the A-list bulging Met Gala.
Making her grand red carpet return after giving birth to daughter Blue Ivy Carter in January, the 30-year-old's figure looked sensational in her sheer sequin Givenchy Haute Couture gown.

The theatrical creation also featured a purple feathered tail as long as a wedding dress train.
The nude bodysuit she wore underneath was also visible, and flattering against her honeyed skin.
Other stars created much debate as to whether or not they should end up on the fashion hit or miss list at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual ball.

Kristen Stewart, 22, went a bit too Eighties in her strapless snakeskin and colour-block Balenciaga dress and white go-go dancer booties.
Project Runway host Heidi Klum also might want to find herself a new designer come 2013.
Her blue lace Escada showed off her endlessly long legs, but its mini dress meets maxi vibe didn't quite work.

Sex and the City's resident fashionista, Sarah Jessica Parker, looked lovely, but her floral Valentino would have looked more in place at a garden party.
Her Manolo Blahnik shoes perfectly matched her gown, which is surely a fashion no-no.
Elizabeth Banks officially ended the sartorial winning streak she rode high on while promoting The Hunger Games in an odd Mary Katrantzou creation.

The shiny peplum dress featured a variety of different prints from plaid to art deco with an inexplicable futuristic shrug covering her shoulders.
The bright red sash at her waistline looked like something a teenage boy might wear to prom.
The 38-year-old actress seems to have stuck to her dystopian hairdo, as well, as her blonde locks were teased into what resembled a helmet.

Christina Ricci was also the victim of a fashion misfire.
Though her pale pink and black Thakoon number fit her like a glove, the huge fan at her shoulder overpowered her tiny frame.
At least her Tiffany & Co. jewels added a bit of conservative drama to the ensemble.

Kirsten Dunst and Eva Mendes were both far from wearing dream outfits in unflattering orange frocks.
The 30-year-old Melancholia actress looked as if she were about to attend an 80s costume party in her business-like Rodarte ensemble, which she accessorised with Neil Lane and Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery.
Eva Mendes' dowdy Prada gown hid her fabulous figure, though boyfriend Ryan Gosling clearly likes her regardless of what she's wearing.

Oscar nominee Shailene Woodley is a newbie to the industry, so can be forgiven her flowered and leather Christopher Kane dress, especially as the designer attended as her date.
She paired Pomelatto earrings and Tabitha SImmons shoes with the sleeveless sheath.
Diane Kruger, typically a fashion darling, also hit a miss with her wide purple Prada.

The shape did nothing for her svelte figure, and the purple feathers on the bottom were aesthetically unpleasant.
Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester went a bit overboard with her chiffon Marchesa gown, Harry Winston jewels and overpowering tan.
Florence + the Machine singer looked like Little Bo Beep in her flesh-coloured tiered Alexander McQueen.
