The British actor confessed to being in awe of the creative director for the fashion house Chanel, despite his often controversial opinions.
During a Gothic photo shoot for the September Issue of Harper’s Bazaar, the 27-year-old explained exactly what it is about Lagerfeld, 78, that she finds so attractive.
Mysterious girl: Keira Knightley revealed a different side to herself during a gothic photo shoot for Harper's Bazaar
She told the magazine: 'Karl’s amazing. He's an avid reader. And he speaks about five different languages.
'So he’ll be rattling English to you and French to somebody else, and German to somebody else, and then the phone rings and he's speaking in Italian.'
Although she is a fan of such a recognisable designer Keira is surprisingly not comfortable sitting on the front row at fashion shows.

The Seeking a Friend for the End of the World star does not like being in front of the camera, despite oozing a mysterious allure in the magazine's Gothic shoot by Ellen Von Unwerth.
She said: 'This sounds ridiculous but I don't actually like having my picture taken and I tend to avoid anything where I have that.
'I would totally sneak in the back! And sit in the back row. I love seeing [the collections] as they were presented.
'Because it is art, when you see it. And the couple [of shows] that I’ve been to, they were absolutely extraordinary.'
Keira, who is engaged to Klaxons keyboardist James Righton, may be shy and retiring but she has never felt more comfortable in her own skin than she has done since turning 25, two years ago.
'I hated late teens, I hated early twenties, all of that, I think a lot of people do.
'And all of a sudden 25 hit, and I was like, 'Ah, I think I’m all right'. And actually after 25 it’s been pretty good.
'I definitely feel like I’ve been around the block a couple of times, and that’s great.'
The other half: Keira and fiance James Righton, pictured yesterday, were spotted strolling around Soho, New York
Having worked opposite some pretty big male stars in her career, she recently finished filming Anna Karenina with Jude Law and Aaron Johnson.
She said of Jude: 'No wonder he kept that hat on... [the make-up and wig] were the worst. Poor f*****. I’d get to the end of the day, take my make-up and wig off, and I’d look sh**.
'He’d take the make-up and wig off and look f****** brilliant. And everyone would say, ‘Oh yeah! Good-looking man underneath!'
The iconic: Karl Lagerfeld, pictured in March, may have lost some fans with his comments but, Keira Knightley is a big fan of his
Knightley also enjoyed working alongside young star Aaron and labelled him as having something very special.
She told the magazine: 'He is very confident. But he’s also got whatever it is, and I’m never sure quite what it is that makes an actor good, but he’s got it.
'It’s real. It’s a really interesting thing. You sort of stand there and go, ‘Wow, I don’t know how you’ve done it, but you’ve really, really done it.’ It was amazing to watch'.
