Singer Dido opens up about the struggle to lose her baby weight

'I ate for Britain': Singer Dido opens up about the struggle to lose her baby weight

Joining the ranks of new mothers who have trouble regaining their pre-baby figure, Dido has opened up about her own personal struggle with weight loss.
The 41-year-old singer - who gave birth to Stanley in July 2011 - said that her problem was that she 'ate for Britain' during her pregnancy.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, Dido said, 'I still haven't quite managed [to lose the weight]. It has definitely been a bit of a struggle because you need to eat to have energy and I ate for Britain.'

'I was so hungry the whole time,' she explained.
Stanley was her first child with husband Rohan Gavin, but the mother says she still isn't back to her pre-baby weight.
However getting back to that size isn't a priority for her right now.

'That whole "weight drops off you when you're breastfeeding" thing is a complete myth,' the White Flag singer admitted, 'I haven't worried about it so much because your attitude shifts to thinking about how you can be the best mum.'
Her music on the other hand is a priority, and during her 9 months with a bun in the oven, Dido worked on her new album - Girl Who Got Away.

Singing tracks from the new LP in the studio was rewarding as a musician and as a mother, as she described the feeling of Stanley moving around every time she sung a melody.
''Usually I'm in the vocal booth in the studio singing on my own,' she explained.
'What was nice as having this little mate, kicking away, dancing - or struggling to get out, I'm not sure which.
Not that it was all fun and games producing her album, especially towards the end of her pregnancy:
I' also recorded a lot of the material in the weeks just before Stanley was born, when he was kicking like crazy inside me.'

It got to the point where I thought I was going to fall over. I was so breathless that I could barely get through a line.
but she still 'loved having him there', and finished up her first album in five years at the end of 2012.
Dido’s single No Freedom is out on February 24. The album Girl Who Got Away follows on March 4.
