French and Saunders bring the laughs in comedy dresses as bridesmaids at real-life nuptials for Comic Relief

You’re not supposed to upstage the bride!  French and Saunders bring the laughs in comedy dresses as bridesmaids at real-life nuptials for Comic Relief

It’s a well-known fact that bridesmaids are not supposed to upstage the bride on her wedding day.
But it seems Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders didn’t get the memo or in the name of comedy and indeed charity they decided to ignore it.
Attending a real-life wedding organised by Miranda Hart in aid of Comic Relief,  the comedy duo got more than a few laughs in their massive dresses and Red Nose themed tiaras.

Standing on the steps of Westminster Registry office the women looked like butter wouldn’t melt as they prepared to help Claire Gilchrist walk up the aisle.
Dressed in what one would describe as typically horrible bridesmaids dresses, their pale peach colour gowns were more than unflattering.
With frills around the collar and puff sleeves, when they turned around it was revealed the red sash at the front turned into a huge bow.

In keeping with the event in hand they wore tiaras with red balls on them.
The duo seemed delighted to help Miranda with her impressive challenge and in the studio later that evening they couldn’t contain their excitement, as they kissed each other and Miranda on the lips.
And it seems that their turn as bridesmaids went down particularly well with the public who took to Twitter in their droves to praise the stars.

Miranda, with the help of a host of celebrity friends, successfully pulled off the wedding of all weddings as newlyweds, Ben and Claire Springett, officially tied the knot at 6.07pm in Marylebone Town Hall among a throng of friends, family and famous faces.
Double trouble: French and Saunders were also joined by Tom Fletcher and Harry Judd from McFly

The challenge was sponsored by BT, a long term supporter of Comic Relief.

It marked the end of the Call The Midwife actress’ BT Red Nose Challenge: Miranda’s Mad March, in which she raised an extraordinary £1,140,615 for Red Nose Day.
