Victoria Beckham in risqué attire to watch Andy Murray’s historic win along with other celebrities and politicians in the Royal Box at Wimbledon

Posh falls out of her nightie in the not so Royal Box at Wimbledon

It was a fairly liberal interpretation of the word ‘smart’.
Victoria Beckham pushed the dress code of the Royal Box to its limit yesterday, when she arrived in what could have easily passed as underwear.
The former Spice Girl sported her risqué attire to watch Andy Murray’s historic win along with a whole raft of other celebrities and politicians.

Star power: Victoria Beckham takes her seat in the Royal Box at Wimbledon to watch Andy Murray play Novak Djokovic in the final on Sunday afternoon

She showed off rather more than necessary in a low-cut black lacy negligee – backless apart from two strings holding the ensemble together.
It was a daring outfit choice for the area, which is traditionally reserved for royalty and other persons of note.
The All England Club’s rules specify that for guests sitting in the box, ‘smart dress’ is essential.

But Mrs Beckham seemed oblivious to her faux pas – instead concentrating on pouting for the cameras and showing off the tattoo on her spine.
And it seemed the seat may have been somewhat wasted on the singer, who appeared to spend much of Murray’s match looking at her phone.
It was a day of WAGs in the Royal Box, which also hosted Tana Ramsay, wife of TV chef Gordon, and Coleen Rooney with her footballer husband – Manchester United and England star Wayne.

Coleen, who gave birth to her second son Klay less than two months ago, showed off her legs in an extremely short white dress.
Sporting six-inch platform heels, the mother of two nearly looked as though she might trip over.
There was also a good turnout of  politicians in the box, with a suntanned David Cameron sitting in the front row next to his mother Mary.

Organisers made sure they placed Ed Miliband and his wife Justine a good few seats away.
However, slightly awkwardly, Cameron’s other political rival Alex  Salmond and his wife Moira were sitting right behind him.
The Prime Minister looked a little lost as he searched for his seat and realised who his neighbour was, but he chatted politely as he waited for the match to start.

Former tennis stars Greg Rusedski, Stan Smith, Peter Fleming and four-time Wimbledon champion Rod Laver took their seats ready to cheer on the new generation of players.
Also there to lend their support were Hollywood actors Bradley Cooper, who appears in The Hangover movies, and Scotsman Gerard Butler, perhaps best known for his role in the film 300, an adaptation of a graphic novel.
Ironically, the only type of VIP the Royal Box seemed fairly short on was, in fact, Royals themselves.

In contrast to previous years, where excited crowds have spotted Prince William, Kate Middleton and even the Queen herself, there seemed to be only a few guests of the HRH variety.
The Duke of Kent, who is president of the All England Club, was joined only by Princess Michael of Kent and The Duchess of Gloucester.
And Zara Phillips, who was the most easily-recognisable royal at Wimbledon yesterday, ironically failed to make it into the Royal Box.

The equestrian, who won a silver medal of her own at last summer’s Olympics, was banished to the stands with her rugby player husband Mike Tindall.
Outside the box, it seemed to be a competition between the celebs to see who could look the strangest.
Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood almost blinded passers-by with a flamboyant green striped suit complete with green shades.

Meanwhile Jonathan Ross looked a little weightier than usual as he anxiously watched the final from the stands.
But there was one celebrity who was able to look classy throughout, despite having to sit through the devastating defeat of her boyfriend Novak Djokovic.
Jelena Ristic managed to keep looking elegant as she cheered on the Serbian ace, wearing a £410 striped dress from J.Crew and a pair of aviator sunglasses.
