Plus-size model reveals the truth behind body diversity in the fashion industry

'It's hard to make clothes look great on big women': Plus-size model reveals the truth behind body diversity in the fashion industry

A plus-size model has opened up about her true thoughts on body diversity in the fashion industry.
Tara Lynn, who has been featured in magazines including Elle France, Vogue Italia and CR Fashion Book, reluctantly confessed to Elle Spain: 'It is hard to make clothes look great on big women. The more fat there is on a body, the more variation there is in the shape of that body.'
The size-16 brunette beauty - who features on the cover of the magazine's latest issue - said she therefore believes it 'makes perfect sense that people are using a standard, clothes-hanger skinny body' to sell clothes.

Curvy and confident: The Seattle-based model, who graces this month's cover of Elle Spain (pictured), says it wasn't until college that she learned to fully embrace her voluptuous body
But when it comes to advertising perfume or make-up, 'I think it's a great thing for [people] to see diversity in advertising and not have to feel like they need to fit a mold,' she said.

'As you become an adult, you realize that you don't have to fit in with your peers,' she said. 'You don't have to look and think like everyone else.'
Now, with curvier women - like her close friend Robyn Lawley - becoming more and more accepted in mainstream fashion, plus-size models are on their way to being seen as legitimate fashion icons.

Integration: But she does hope that one day soon, it won't be such a rarity to see a plus-size model taking a starring role in a campaign - or on the front cover of a mainstream American magazine
Miss Lynn says that she has no qualms with the term 'plus-size', explaining that it is simply a helpful way for people of all shapes to find the right clothes for themselves.

'Photographers want to shoot with usand it's not just PR stunts. They're excited to capture our bodies'
Indeed, Miss Lynn - who has a degree in linguistics and is fluent in French and Spanish - is well on her way to fashion fame, having starred in H&M's Big is Beautiful campaign in 2011, displaying her curves in sexy swimwear.
And Elle France, which has featured her on its cover twice, added the caption 'The Body' on the cover of the magazine's February 2012 issue.
'We're getting covers and great editorials and amazing photographers wanting to shoot with us: it's not just PR stunts,' she said. 'They're excited to see what we do and capture our bodies.'
