International fame brings with it international recognition, but while Jennifer Hudson is frequently accosted by fans, only one has asked her to prove who she is by way of oral identification. 
Speaking to Jonathan Ross during an appearance on Saturday night’s show, the Oscar winner recalled a time when one particular fan, harbouring doubts that she might not be the real Jennifer, demanded an unusual form of proof. 
‘This lady comes over to me and she’s like, ‘Hey, they say you’re Jennifer Hudson.  Stick out your tongue. If you stick out your tongue I can tell if it’s you or not,’’ she said.

By way of demonstration, the 32-year-old showed off her incredibly long tongue for the benefit of Ross and the studio audience.
    Jennifer landed her breakthrough role as Effie White in hit movie Dreamgirls – a role that won her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress – after making an appearance on then third season of American Idol in 2004. 
    But while the popular talent show proved to be an adequate springboard, she admits its British mentor, Simon Cowell, was persistently doubtful about her ability to carve out a successful career in the industry.

    ‘He told me I was out of my league,’ she told Ross, adding that he turned out to be her favourite judge because ‘he was so honest, but he was tough.’ 
    The 54-year-old mogul was also man enough to admit he was wrong after Jennifer scooped her Oscar in 2006. 
    ‘Actually, he ended up apologising and sending me a video, the year I won my Oscar on the red carpet,’ she said. ‘

    ‘There was a video of him.  He congratulated me and he admitted that he was wrong.  So I’ve got it on camera.’ 
    Jennifer, a proud mother to 4-year-old son David Otunga, Jr, also revealed that she hopes to eventually have a daughter with fiancĂ© David, who she met in 2007. 
    ‘I want a little girl so bad and I said when he (her son) turned four but he’s four now and that’s too soon, so maybe when he’s six we can have another one,’ she said.
    Other guests on the show include Sir Richard Branson, Davina McCall and Sue Perkins.
