She’s been recruited to up the glamour on Coronation Street as the ITV show bids farewell to one of its more prominent, and popular, female stars. 
Arriving on the Manchester set on Wednesday morning, rookie actress Sair Khan was ready to shoot further scenes as incoming character Ayla Nazir – a member of the first ever Muslim family to feature on the long-running soap. 
The 26-year-old appeared to wearing a mini-dress beneath her smart, tunic-style coat as she prepared for a location shoot – three weeks after being unveiled as the latest addition to the show’s cast.

Sair completed a rather neutral look with black tights and matching heels, while the large leather handbag that hung from the crook of her left arm rounded things off.
The actress was signed up by Corrie bosses despite having limited experience; with her previous TV appearances restricted to a brief stint on daytime soap Doctors. 
Sair will be joined by acting veteran Jimmy Mistry, who joins the show as her father – personal trainer Khalid ‘Kal’ Nazir.

In an official statement the actress said: 'I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining the cast of Coronation Street. As a northerner I've grown up watching the show and so can't quite believe that I'll soon be walking on the famous cobbles.'
The role represents a change in fortunes for the stunning actress, who worked as an office receptionist prior to auditioning for the show. 
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'Alya is a good-looking girl who has just graduated from university and is back living with her family. 
'She mixes brains and beauty so you can imagine there are going to be a few of the men of Weatherfield who will be interested in her.
'Alya is both intelligent and intriguing when she comes in.'

Her imminent appearance on the show comes as Tina McIntyre, played by Michelle Keegan, is set to be killed off next month, less than two years after fellow beauty Helen Flanagan abandoned her role as Rosie Webster, and bosses are reportedly keen to introduce some new eye candy.
The source added: 'Despite limited experience, Sair did brilliantly in auditions and now we just can't wait for her and the rest of the new family to get started.'
Her first scenes will be aired in June.
