After revealing the news on BBC Breakfast, she took to Twitter to tell fans of her excitement.
She wrote: 'It's finally out there! I'll be dancing the night away on @bbcstrictly.'
The rigorous weekly routines should come easy to the 25-year-old, who has been in the spotlight since she was 12.
Starting out with S Club Juniors, Frankie was already established when The Saturdays launched their debut album Chasing Lights in 2008.
The band, also featuring Vanessa White, Rochelle Humes, Mollie King and Una Foden, released their fifth album Living for the Weekend last year and are currently promoting their Greatest Hits record.
This autumn is set to be hectic for the singer - who is married to footballer Wayne Bridge and has a son, Parker - as the band is scheduled to head out on tour throughout September, when Strictly is expected to start.

Frankie's decision to sign up for the the BBC 1 favourite comes amid speculation the girl group is set to go on hiatus after their run of concerts.
A source tells The Sun: 'Frankie was the BBC's main target for Strictly this year - they desperately want her sexy girl band glamour and love the fact she is a WAG.
'She almost competed last year but had to pull out when she found out she was pregnant.
'The Saturdays thought it was the perfect time to coincide with an extended holiday.
'They've been working pretty much non-stop for six years and want some time off to focus on all their various solo interests.'

However, the band insist that fans can expect at least one more album.
Speaking on This Morning earlier this week, Una said: 'We're actually doing another album - we've got another coming out after the 'Greatest Hits', so it's definitely not the last, we've got plenty more to come.'
Frankie will go up against 14 other well-known personalities on the competition later this year.
Among the stars rumoured to be taking part are football pundit Alan Hansen, tennis star Andy Murray's mum Judy, TV presenter Caroline Flack, former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan and her fiance, Mark Wright.
Tess Daly will be back to present the show alongside Claudia Winkleman, who will replaced Sir Bruce Forsyth after he stepped down after a decade.
