Pop star Pixie's best pal JoCee fails to secure a place on The Voice despite impressing judges with her vocals

That's your Lott! Pop star Pixie's best pal JoCee fails to secure a place on The Voice despite impressing judges with her vocals

When Pixie Lott is your best friend and she personally advises you to audition for BBC One reality show The Voice, there's very little reason why you should ever say no.
However, the pop beauty's words of wisdom proved unsuccessful for 23-year-old Essex native JoCee as she was seen failing to gain a team place on Saturday night's instalment of the singing contest.
In the final week of mentors building their teams, the bubbly blonde, who is also the niece of legendary British Olympic athlete Sally Gunnell - performed her rendition of Robin S' 1993 hit Show Me Love.

And despite her soulful raspy voice winning nods of approval from Rita Ora, will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Ricky Wilson, none of them hit the vital buzzer to turn their chairs as she hit her high notes....
An impressed Rita - whose team was team was already full - got out of her chair and encouraged audience members to dance as she showed off her fancy footwork while JoCee sung for a place.
As JoCee hit her final note, Tom was seen mouthing 'wow', but still remained steadfast in not selecting the bubbly hopeful.

Her gold medallist aunt was seen standing backstage with her mouth wide open in disbelief as it dawned that her niece had not been selected by any of the judges.
'I'm so sad that nobody turned around,' a disappointed JoCee told the judges at the end of her performance.
Tom advised: 'I enjoyed it... But when you do somebody else's song, try and take it away from the original. Try and do something else with it if you can... But there's nothing wrong with your voice.'
Undecided: While will.i.am appeared to enjoy her performance, he was also reluctant to spin around for her

Dressed in an eye-catching ensemble of a white bra top with matching hotpants and bright orange vertiginous open-toe heels, JoCee remained upbeat despite the letdown.
Before taking to the stage, she said: 'At stage school, I met my best friend, Pixie Lott... Being friends with her is inspiring as I watch all of her achievements... She told me I should give this show a shot.'
As for her famous aunt Sally? 'She's not the greatest singer,' laughed JoCee as she chatted with co-host Marvin Humes.
With all of the judges now competing their teams, the competition will heat up among the singers, as each week they face elimination until a winner is crowned in the spring.
