Elizabeth Hurley strips down to her underwear as her raunchy drama The Royals debuts in the US

Head of state in a state of undress: Elizabeth Hurley strips down to her underwear as her raunchy drama The Royals debuts in the US

She's insisted she's leaving the raciest scenes in her new TV show The Royals to her co-stars, but 49-year-old Elizabeth Hurley still gives her castmates a run for their money in the first episode.
The actress is seen showing off her incredible body as she strips down to some revealing black lingerie as the UK release date nears for the anticipated drama.
Liz plays Queen Helena in the debauched spin on the Royal family, which has been created by E! and debuted in the US on Sunday.

UK audiences will see the first episode on March 25, but leading lady Liz has shown fans what they can expect from E!'s first scripted drama.
There's plenty of drama in the first episode, with Liz's character Queen Helena and her husband King Simon (Vincent Regan) grieving over the shock death of their son Prince Robert.
Elizabeth provides some light relief though, stripping to her sexy black basque only to be caught out by one of the footmen in the royal residence.

The actress isn't the only one stripping off in the show though, with Elizabeth telling the Evening Standard last week that it's her onscreen children Prince Liam (William Moseley) and Princess Eleanor (Sophie Colquhoun) who flash the most flesh.
'You see a great deal more of my children in their lingerie than you do of me, I'm happy to say. Those days are behind me,' she insists.
Sophie's character finds herself hitting the headlines in the first episode, after going partying in a Paris nightclub and flashing her lack of underwear for the world press.

Starring alongside Elizabeth is Joan Collins, who has a guest role on the show as the Queen mother.
E! have described their new venture as 'a drama about a fictional British Royal family set in modern day London, who inhabit a world of opulence and regal tradition that caters to any and every desire, but one that also comes with a price tag of duty, destiny and intense public scrutiny.'

While the channel has already commissioned a second series, US audiences and critics haven't exactly been kind about the opening episode.
The Royals was described as ‘not a royally good time’ by The Hollywood Reporter, while another critic said  it ‘plays like an extended MTV music video’.
