Taraji P. Henson lands Critics' Choice Television Award nomination for Empire + Full list of Nominations

Taraji P. Henson lands Critics' Choice Television Award nomination for Empire as Julia Louis-Dreyfus leads HBO's 27 nods

Taraji P. Henson received a major nod on Wednesday from the Critics' Choice Television Awards for her role as Cookie in the breakout Fox hit Empire.
The 44-year-old Empire star will compete in the Best Actress In A Drama Series category against a tough field that includes Eva Green, Julianna Margulies, Keri Russell, Vera Farmiga and Viola Davis.
The music industry drama Empire also stars Terrence Howard and its premiere in January was Fox's highest-rated debut in three years.

Empire also was nominated for Best Drama Series along with The Americans, Game Of Thrones, The Good Wife, Homeland, Justified and Orange Is The New Black.
The fifth annual awards ceremony held by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association will be broadcast on May 31 on the A&E network. It will honor the best in television from 2014-15.


The show was broadcast live for the first time last year on the CW Network and was hosted by Cedric The Entertainer.

HBO was the leading network with 27 nominations including Silicon Valley and Veep in the Best Comedy Series category.
The cable network also saw Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, 54, score a nomination for Best Actress In A Comedy Series along with Lisa Kudrow for her work in the HBO show The Comeback.
Thomas Middleditch of HBO's Silicon Valley was nominated in the Best Actor In A Comedy Series category along with Will Forte of Fox's Last Man On Earth; Anthony Anderson of ABC's Blackish; Chris Messina of Fox's The Mindy Project; Jeffrey Tambor of Amazon's Transparent and Johnny Galecki of CBS' The Big Bang Theory.

FX was the runner-up in nominations with 16 nods.
Justified and Olive Kitteridge had the most series nominations with five apiece.
The CW network scored its first multiple nominations thanks to Jane The Virgin, which was nominated for Best Comedy Series with Gina Rodriguez gaining a nod for Best Actress In A Comedy Series and Jaime Camil nominated for Best Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series.
