'I keep 10lbs above my jeans weight': Iman says trick to looking young is to embrace extra pounds for 'no-filler-needed refresher'

She catapulted to international stardom after leaving Kenya as a university student to pursue modelling.
But even decades after her discovery, Iman continues to mystify with her youthful glow and wrinkle-free complexion.
The former catwalk queen, who celebrated her 60th birthday in July, told Yahoo Beauty that her trick to looking young was to embrace an extra few pounds.

'I keep on 5 to 10 pounds above my jeans weight, as the ultimate no-filler-needed refresher, and buy a size up on jeans,' the wife of David Bowie told the website.
Iman added that she felt no desire to compete with her former shape:  'I don't need to fit in my jeans that I wore in my 20s!'
During her interview, the beauty also promoted her makeup line Iman Cosmetics, a product described on its Facebook page as being produced for women of 'many races, cultures and ethnicities with skin tones in a myriad of shades.'

The product was a long time coming for Iman, who recalled an experience she had during her first photo shoot in 1975 for Vogue that made her realize the importance of makeup specially designed for her skin type.
Iman, then just 20-years-old, remembered being asked by a makeup artist on set if she had brought along her own foundation.
When she responded that she had not, the stylist polished on his own blend of foundation to her face.

To her horror, Iman said the result made her look 'grey and not my beautiful brown skin...As a model, my photos are my currency. Thank the gods of beauty that those photos were in black and white.'
Recently, Iman told Yahoo Style that she's never believed in an age limit.
She said: 'On my 50th birthday in 2005, my discount-wielding AARP card came in the mail. I hurled it in the trash, put on something fabulous, and had a decadent meal.

'Just the thought of putting it in my wallet felt like a concession.
'I'm 60 today. I have laugh lines - not wrinkles. I walk slowly because I am finally in a place where I don't have to rush from one place to the next.'
Iman began her career in 1975 aged 20. She was studying political science and living as a refugee in Kenya when American photographer Peter Beard approached her.

He asked to photograph her and she said the privilege would cost him $8,000 (around £5,000) - the entire amount of her university fees.
She is said to have then broken the law and fibbed about her age in order to leave Kenya.
She told New York Magazine: 'I was under 18 and to leave Kenya to come to the United States, to get a passport, you had to be 18.
'So I lied and said I was 19 to get the passport.'
Her modelling career subsequently kicked off with a Vogue assignment in 1976 and she has since served as a muse to designers Gianni Versace, Calvin Klein and Yves Saint-Laurent.
