Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery and Joanne Froggatt miss out on Emmy awards but top best dressed list in stunning gowns

She might have lost out on an Emmy award at Sunday night's ceremony.
But Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery was still a winner in the style stakes as she posed on the red carpet at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
The 30-year-old actress wowed in a midnight blue Louis Vuitton gown, which featured a sheer top and full skirt as she walked the red carpet before heading into the awards.

Michelle teamed her outfit with deep red lipstick, and wore her auburn hair swept back in a chic up do.
She finished off her outfit with a Jimmy Choo gold box clutch bag and Fred Leighton jewellery.
Michelle, who plays Lady Mary Crawley in the ITV period drama, was joined on the red carpet at the awards by her Downton co-star Joanne Froggatt, who stars as Anna Bates in the show.

Her fellow nominee Joanne, who was up against Dame Maggie Smith in the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series award, opted for a chic strapless gown for the occasion, highlighting her slim figure with a cinched in corset waist.
She accessorised her outfit by leaving her blonde hair in loose waves around her shoulders, and carried a sparkling clutch bag to match her heels.
But the actress' best accessory of all was her much taller fiancé James Cannon, who looked dapper in a black tuxedo.

However, Downton, who was up for 16 awards at the ceremony, didn't go home empty-handed.
Dame Maggie, who plays the grand Dowager Countess of Grantham in Downton, beat Joanne to take home the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in the show.
