First Look At Dominic Cooper In Stratton
Going commando in Simon West's new action-thriller

Move over Reacher, Bourne, Bauer and to a lesser extent Christmas, because Stratton has stormed in. Who needs first names when you're an armed-to-the-teeth special forces operative? Dominic Cooper, as this first still demonstrates, certainly doesn't. He's in name-taking mood as the film's SBS trooper tackles a range of terror threats.

Stratton sees Cooper's titular hardman teams up with a US Navy SEAL (Austin Stowell) to battle an international terrorist. He's the hero of an eight-book series by pseudonymous ex-military type Duncan Falconer - the man also behind the screenplay - and an experienced member of the elite Special Boat Service (like the SAS, only with extra canoeing) seconded to a cutting edge corner of the British intelligence network.

The movie, which originally had Henry Cavill in the title role, has been shooting in Italy and gets underway in London next month. Co-starring with the lead are Gemma Chan, Tom Felton, Thomas Kretschmann, Derek Jacobi, Tyler Hoechlin, Connie Nielsen and Jake Fairbrother, with Simon 'Con Air' West behind the camera.

Cooper completists can catch the actor in Nicholas Hytner's Alan Bennett dramatisation The Lady In The Van and as King Llane Wrynn, monarch of Duncan Jones' human realm in the director's Warcraft adaptation. On the small screen, he has AMC's Preacher on his dance card and continues as Howard Stark in Agent Carter. Expect Stratton some time in 2016. More as we get it.

PUBLISHED: 23:57, 28 October 2014 | UPDATED: 01:43, 29 October 2014Jennifer Lawrence is going into the final instalments of the Hunger Games movies standing strong - as evidenced by an intimidating cover to Empire.

The magazine's December 2014 issue celebrates the upcoming release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1.

Starring Lawrence as the heroic and inspiring Katniss Everdeen, this third movie in the four-film series will be released on November 21, 2014.

The cover shows Lawrence as Katniss, standing alone amidst the burning and broken rubble of a building.

While smoke rises in the background, the revolutionary girl is all sharp lines and black armour as she menaces with her bow and arrow.

There isn't too much hope in the bleak image, other than a mockingjay symbol somehow still intact on an otherwise broken wall.

It seems fitting, considering that the final two films focus on Katniss' emergence as an active figure of revolution in the dystopian country of Panem.

Empire's interview with the film's director, Francis Lawrence, accompanies the cover and includes a discussion of future Hunger Games movies and the contribution of deceased actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.

As for the film's star, Jennifer Lawrence has an interview in the issue about making it through these incredibly popular movies.

Winning: Some critics initially rejected Lawrence as Katniss, saying she was too old and too blonde for the role

Lawrence has played Katniss throughout the films, beginning with The Hunger Games in 2012 - her final appearance is expected in the sequel to Mockingjay, set for a November 20, 2015 release.

Based on a series of books by Suzanne Collins, there had been some objection when Lawrence was originally cast as the film version of Katniss.

The well-received movies have since mostly silenced such criticism.

In addition to her Hunger Games role, the Academy Award-winning actress has kept busy over the past year with a variety of roles, from her Oscar-nominated American Hustle to X-Men: Days Of Future Past to a cameo in Dumb And Dumber To.

It's one of the most highly-anticipated sequels coming out this year.

And Empire magazine hyped X-Men: Days of Future Past by putting 25 characters on 25 different covers for their March edition - on newsstands Thursday.

The most revealing cover featured Jennifer Lawrence showcasing her toned, incredible figure as X-Men's Mystique.

The 23-year-old Oscar winner will reprise her villainous, blue-hued mutant shapeshifter in the 3D flick due out May 23.

It literally takes seven hours and six women to airbrush, paint, and paste the Hunger Games actress into her nearly nude costume.
