'To get a good snap takes 5000!' Shay Mitchell reveals what it takes to get a perfect selfie and pleads with young women to stop trying to be Kim Kardashian on Instagram

Shay Mitchell dazzles her astonishing 11.5 million Instagram followers almost daily with perfect social media snaps.
But the 29-year-old admits in the new issue of Flare, that she definitely does not always wake up like this.

The Pretty Little Liars star told the magazine that she openly admits to a little editing and a lot of posing to get her Instagram photographs so perfect.
The actress, who stars in the cover, admitted candidly: 'Sure, I'm guilty of taking out a blemish here and there.
'And I'm also not afraid to tell people, ''Oh, to get that one good photo, I took 5000''. These photos are going to be out there forever.'
Something young girls in particular need to remember, the Canadian actress said - especially when it comes to suggestive snaps.

Shay said while people like Kim Kardashian may post raunchy snaps that does not mean younger girls should follow suit.
'Kim is a grown woman, and she can make her own decisions. I'm not about to judge her for her nude selfie.
'What I do have a problem with is young girls doing it for attention or to get more likes. They don't realize it's going to be on the Internet for all time.'

And being a role model is something the star takes seriously, so much so, that on the weekend instead of celebrating her birthday with a big nightclub bash, the star threw herself a party at spin studio, Cycle House.
The event allowed the star to not just celebrate healthily, but also meant she could raise money for charity Together1heart, which empowers women and children victimized by human-trafficking and sexualized violence.
Turning 29 means that Shay just made it into Flare's Sixty Under Thirty which is available on Texture today.

The actress also tries to be a role model when she plays her Pretty Little Liars character Emily Fields, who is openly gay.
Shay told the magazine: 'A lot of the time in TV and movies, lesbian relationships are overly sexualized. But Emily's were always very sincere. Our show was a trailblazer in that way.'
Her show - which gave the star her big break in Hollywood - will soon be coming to an end after seven seasons.

'Out of all the girls on Pretty Little Liars, I was the greenest. It was really great that people were willing to take a chance on me.'
Despite this, Shay said she is ready to walk away.
'It’s been great, getting to exhaust all the different things a character can do. Now it’s time for me to find another one.'
