But X Factor champion Louisa Johnson was brushing off her high school sweetheart's comments as she stepped out in London on Thursday, attending a promotional event at the Oxford Circus branch of Topshop.
The 17-year-old student looked the perfect poster girl for the brand, sporting a stylish silver bodycon dress and a leather jacket.

She was seen arriving at the store in a more laid back number, rocking a dark floral dress under her leather jacket.
Louisa - who hasn't stopped since beating Reggie 'N' Bollie in The Factor final last weekend - was happy to chat to shoppers at the venue, taking endless selfies with her fans.
The signing sensation's outing comes after her ex Ellis suggested he was still dating the singer around the time she started a new romance with Essex recruitment worker Daniel Elliott.

He admitted was 'shocked' to discover that the pretty blonde was dating Daniel, just weeks after she ended their 18-month romance so she could focus on her blossoming career.
Louisa's revelation came during an interview to MailOnline, when she admitted she had a boyfriend who was 'not in the industry', and now Ellis admits he fears there was a crossover.
Speaking to The Sun, the part-time stockbroker said: 'I saw what she said about that (new boyfriend) and was shocked. I went to some X Factor shows and supported her early on but don’t know what’s going on now.'

'We split up because she wants to follow her dream. It was only recent, like the last couple of months. I didn’t want to get in the way of her career and what she wants to do.
'We had been going out for about 18 months and I know her manager and family really well.'

Daniel was at Sunday's X Factor final to see the talented teen crowned 2015 champion, sitting with Louisa's family as well as sharing cosy Instagrams with the singer.
An earlier report in The Sun claimed Daniel was seen congratulating Louisa after her victory over Reggie N Bollie, with a source claiming the couple kissed on the lips. 'Louisa looked very cosy with Daniel after the final,' added the insider, explaining that their romance is still relatively new.
'Their relationship is still in its early stages and given how dedicated Louisa has been to X Factor over the past few weeks, it's yet to fully flourish. It will be interesting to see how long it will last, as music will be her No1 priority for some time to come.'

The pair have been tweeting and Instragramming each other with Louisa wishing Daniel a happy birthday on November 23 with kissing emojis.
Daniel meanwhile retweeted Louisa's message last week when she denied she was in a relationship with West Ham footballer Reece Oxford, adding: 'Reece Oxford - Haha really'
Daniel also has pictures of himself with Louisa on his social media, including a photo of the two enjoying a night out at Sugar Hut in Essex on Monday night, while he also shared a photo with X Factor finalist Che Chesterman during the live shows over the weekend.

In an interview with MailOnline this week, Louisa revealed she is in a relationship, explaining: 'I haven't got my eye on anyone at the moment, because I already have a boyfriend. I'm not into all that anyway.
'He's not in the industry, but I don't want to say any more than that.'
The grounded teenager, who dominated the viewer's votes throughout the eleventh season of the series, took the winner's crown from runners up Reggie 'N' Bollie.

She had 53.9 per cent of the votes compared to Reggie 'N' Bollie's 38.9 per cent on Sunday night's show. She came out on top with the public vote every week, with just two exceptions.
But Louisa said she chose to spend the evening with her family following her win, instead of partying with the likes of One Direction, who performed on the show.
'I had a pizza with my little sister and some of the other contestants - and an orange juice,' she said. 'One Direction partied elsewhere.
'It was nice to see my family, as I haven't had much chance to catch up with them for a long time. But I didn't stay out too late as I had an early start the next day.'
