Sports Personality of the Year 2016 shortlist revealed
The Sports Personality of the Year 2016 shortlist has been revealed, with Andy Murray, Mo Farah, Laura Kenny (née Trott) and Alistair Brownlee all included in the final list.
14 out of the 16 stars shortlisted competed in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, with footballers Gareth Bale and Jamie Vardy the only sportsmen not to have competed in Rio 2016.
Masters golf champion Danny Willett joins swimmer Adam Peaty, boxer Nicola Adams, gymnast Max Whitlock and cyclist Jason Kenny – husband of fellow multi-gold medallist Laura Kenny.

Who do you think will win Sports Personality 2016?
Paralympic stars Kadeena Cox, Dame Sarah Storey and Sophie Christiansen also make the list, with Britain's gold medal-winning equestrian rider Nick Skelton and hockey captain Kate Richardson-Walsh completing the final line-up.
Viewers will only be able to vote for their favourite live on the night on Sunday 18 December, with the show starting at 6.40pm on BBC1.
Gary Lineker, Clare Balding and Gabby Logan will present Sports Personality 2016 live from Birmingham's Genting Arena.
Votes can be cast either online or by phone, with the numbers to call being revealed during the show.

2016 highlight Winning Olympic boxing gold in Rio 2016, becoming the first British boxer to retain an Olympic title for 92 years.
Sports Personality of the Year 2016: Kadeena Cox
2016 highlight: Becoming the first British Paralympian to win Paralympic gold medals in multiple sports since 1984. She won gold in the women's cycling time trial, gold in the 400m sprint and bronze in the 100m sprint
2016 highlight: Defending both his 5,000m and 10,000m Olympic titles, becoming just the second man to do so.
