She may only be 16 years old but Mel B's eldest daughter is growing up to be one stylish lady as she proved when the pair stepped out to an awards bash in Mexico City on Tuesday evening.

Phoenix commanded attention as she and her mother arrived at the Marie Claire Prix de la Moda Award Ceremony, dressed in matching black.

The youngster looked mature beyond her teenage years as she towered over Mel, 40, in her stilettos.

Phoenix successfully owned the spotlight, over Mel, as the mother-and-daughter pair posed on the red carpet.

She slipped into a little black dress which was wrap-over and button-down in design while the former Spice Girl spiced things up in a black bustier and sheer-panel trousers.

Phoenix looked confident in her high-heeled strappy sandals as she cosied up to the mother who gladly showed her the ropes.

She had her hair styled into a neat updo with the front strands left loose to perfectly frame her face while a glossy berry-coloured lip topped off her look.

Mel too favoured a slicked-back 'do with professionally-applied contouring and a slick of pale pink lipstick offsetting her all-black look.

'And off we go #motherdaughtertime,' the former X Factor judge captioned a sweet pre-party selfie of her and Phoenix.

Kendall Jenner shares spotlight with sister Kylie in glamorous photo shoot as she continues to cement status as high-end fashion model

She recently took her modeling career to the next level, walking the runway for high-end designers, including Marc Jacobs, during New York Fashion Week.

But Kendall Jenner allowed younger sister Kylie to share a piece of the spotlight in a glamorous new photo shoot.

The pair modeled sophisticated ensembles in a spread for Marie Claire Mexico's March issue, and opened up about their life growing up in front of the camera.

The youngest Kardashian-Jenner siblings take inspiration from Frida Kahlo for the cover, their jet-black hair slicked back with a severe middle parting and their lips painted crimson.

Kendall displays her slender legs in a purple and olive green bodysuit, while Kylie looks breathtaking in a luxurious pink long-sleeved number.

In another shot, the sisters wear similar floaty black chiffon pieces, their long hair blowing in the breeze. 

She's a pro: Kendall showed off her slender waist in a leather bra and high-waisted blue-green trousers 

Matchy matchy: The pair wore a similar outfit in one shot, with Kendall wearing a tasseled bodysuit and Kylie in a chiffon frock 

Kendall also smoulders in a few individual pictures, including one where she shows off her toned stomach in a leather bra and high-waisted blue-green trousers.

She also shows off her curves in a figure-hugging black lace bodysuit, her make-up neutral and fingernails painted black.

Kylie also gets her moment in the sun, modeling a short tasseled skirt and embellished jacket that sports shoulder pads.

Beauties: Kendall and Kylie looked like island goddesses in matching flowing dresses and dangling earrings 

In the accompanying interview, Kendall opened up about her budding modeling career, and admitted her new career is a childhood dream come true. 

'Even as a kid, I remember always looking at my mom’s magazines, I would look up to them and I thought they were so beautiful and they seemed very elegant and cool, it’s just something I really wanted to be,' said the reality star, who cited Gisele Bundchen, Miranda Kerr and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as her idols.

But Kendall reveals she is more shy than what one might expect.

'I'm not a social butterfly like Kylie,' said Kendall. 'I’m pretty much the opposite, a little quieter than her.'

Elegant ladies: Kendall and Kylie were simple chic in fitted black frocks and sequined headbands as they stood with their arms around each other 

The brunette also said her younger sister would follow her around when they were little. 

'She was obsessed with me. She followed me everywhere,' said Kendall.

Kylie added: 'I would follow her everywhere she went, we would sleep in the same bed, if she got up in the middle of the night, I got up of the middle of the night. I literally couldn’t leave her side. We even matched everything we wore.'

According to Marie Claire Mexico Editor-In-Chief Ariadne Grant, the sisters were 'easy to work with' and polite.

'Kendall and Kylie arrived to the studio in LA in the morning with their agent looking like any other teenage girls. Fresh face free of make-up and comfortable trendy clothing.

'They were very nice at every moment of the shooting and their good manners were always present. They were very happy to do this cover, easy to work with and always agreed with all the styling options.

What cuties! Kylie admitted she followed her older sister 'everywhere she went', pictured in 2007 in California 

The cameras from Keeping up with Kardashians were there for almost all the shooting but this didn´t disturb them at all as they are used to them. 

Something fundamental for them was their iPod, it was playing all time with tunes of artists like Disclosure, The Game, Avril Lavigne, Ciara and Drake. They sang and danced together to the songs, showing real sisterly love and friendship. This session was really a lot of fun,' she said.
