Kiersey Clemons proves her comedic chops in “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising,” her first in a string of breakout films this year. Clemons joins the cast of Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, ChloĆ« Grace Moretz and Selena Gomez in the follow-up, out today, to the 2014 runaway hit “Neighbors.” After getting her start in Disney Channel programs, she transitioned out of teen TV with roles in indie hit “Dope” and Amazon’s “Transparent.” Here, her takes on Greek life, working with Halle Berry and hip-hop.
If you were in a sorority, what would your position be? I want to decorate the house. Is there a position for that?
In the movie, the pledges are required to dress as minions — what outfit would you choose instead? The ghosts in “Pacman.”
If you were doing a Greek life hazing/initiation what’s one prank you would pull? I’d tell the girls a ridiculous secret and test them to see if they could keep it. This is about sisterhood, you gotta be able to keep secrets right?
Favorite moment on set for “Neighbors”: When all the girls were in bikinis, we were all so scared and insecure, but then seeing that we all felt the same way made us all feel better. It was sweet.
Favorite Zac Efron movie: “High School Musical” (Completely serious answer).
Favorite look from ‘”Dope”: The jeans with boxers sticking out and gray crop.
Favorite Nineties hip-hop song: The Notorious B.I.G. “Hypnotize.”
Go-to shower song: “Pocketful of Sunshine” [by Natasha Bedingfield] cause it reminds me of the “Easy A” scene.
Best memory of working with Halle Berry: She was off the clock and off camera at 1 a.m. once, and stayed to help me finish my scene. She was crying and everything. She taught me dedication in that one moment. Never stop loving your job.
Dream costar: Eartha Kitt, RIP. She’s my queen!
