Candice Brown crowned winner of The Great British Bake Off

The lips have it! She's queen of the innuendo, and now Candice is crowned queen of the Bake Off tent - putting her in line to make £1million

  • PE teacher Candice Brown crowned winner of The Great British Bake Off
  • The glamorous 31-year-old triumphed in the royal-themed finale
  • Yet while she was shown last night celebrating with family and friends, millions of fans were left mourning the end of the show on the BBC
Her trademark pout and rather racy past left many questioning her suitability for the show.
But thanks to her flair for baking and imaginative creations, glamorous PE teacher Candice Brown was last night crowned the winner of The Great British Bake Off.
It is understood that her victory on this year’s competition - the last on the BBC - already puts her in line to earn ‘over £1 million’ in the next 12 months.

The 31-year-old from Bedfordshire triumphed in the royal-themed finale, earning a handshake from Paul Hollywood for her four-tier meringue cake and impressing Mary Berry with a ‘humdinger’ of a showstopper.
However her new status as the Queen of Great British Bake Off did not come without several controversies along the way – with some questioning whether the lover of dramatically dark lipstick was suitable for the beloved white tent with its trademark bunting.
Miss Brown caused a stir before the series even began after it was revealed that her boyfriend had previously served 16 months in jail for dealing cannabis.
Liam Macaulay, 30, who she has been dating since 2012, and an accomplice were caught by police with six packs of cannabis worth an estimated £6,970 in their car while driving from Edinburgh to Inverness in 2009.
He later pleaded guilty to supplying the Class B drug.
It is understood that Miss Brown had nothing to do with the crime and was not dating him at the time.

When she first appeared on the show she attempted to project a homely image, but it was pictures on her social media page that sent temperatures rising.
One image showed the London-born teacher, whose family ran pubs when she was growing up, flashing her legs in a 1920s style outfit, complete with fishnet stockings.
Another photograph showed her pouting her lips with a message calling for designer Marc Jacobs to cast her as one of his models.
Although she was unsuccessful in that particular endeavour, she was previously used as a hair model by a regional L’Oreal team.

Miss Brown had been odds-on favourite going into the final, having been star baker three times in the series thanks to her ambitious bakes, including a peacock made out of marzipan.
She attracted the support of thousands of fans, many of whom complimented her stylish appearance. But she was unpopular with some viewers due to her tantrums earlier in the series.
On several occasions she cried when receiving criticism, and during ‘bread week’ she came dangerously close to leaving the competition after serving raw dough and a collapsed chocolate loaf.
But in later weeks she rose to the top of the pack with increasingly ambitious bakes, and her trio of creations last night made her a clear winner over fellow finalists Andrew Smyth, 25, and Jane Beedle, 61.

Speaking to host Mel Giedroyc during the challenge Candice said: 'It's quite nostalgic for me this' before adding: 'Have I not shown you my picture of me and my nanny?'

Speaking after her victory, Miss Brown revealed she felt she ‘shouldn’t be in the tent’ earlier in the series and said winning the competition was the ‘biggest’ moment in her life.
Asked what she might do next, she said her ‘ultimate dream’ would be to own a ‘little vintage shop selling tea and cakes with random antiques’.
One source told the Daily Mail that her ‘cute and pretty’ nature would help her earn ‘over a million pounds’ in the next year through TV projects, book deals and perhaps even her own make-up range. Candice has already been snapped up by celebrity agency, Yellow Poppy Media, whose clients include BBC presenter Charlie Stayt, Strictly Come Dancing Star Brendan Cole and radio broadcaster Iain Dale.
Celebrity agent Jonathan Shalit said: ‘Candice is the most immediately accessible Bake Off winner – middle class, well spoken. I can imagine her doing a column for a paper or releasing a cookbook.
‘She is like a vintage, young Nigella Lawson. Adds a bit of sex appeal to baking. I’m confident she can earn £1million’

While she was shown last night celebrating with family and friends, millions of fans were left mourning the end of the show on the BBC as the credits rolled.
Such was the emotion from viewers that every innuendo and baking pun sparked hundreds of comments online, and Miss Berry’s final choice of vibrant blazer was lauded by her fans.
Commenting on the result, Berry said: ‘Well deserved for [Candice’s] determination and passion, she really has excelled. For her wonderful flavours, and everything always looked gorgeous.’
Hollywood added: ‘The standard was exceptionally high. Candice is very much all or nothing. When you look back on some of her bakes they have been beautiful. When she nails it, she is one of the best.’

Yesterday, Berry confirmed that she will work with presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins again, but joked that a future project may involve gardening instead of baking.
She told Chris Evans on Radio 2: ‘We have made no decisions whatsoever, we haven’t actually all three got together, but we will do something because we’re good pals, and who knows what it would be?
‘Well, it may not be baking, you never know, it could be gardening. I’m a very keen gardener you know.’
Hollywood will remain as a judge on The Great British Bake Off when it moves to Channel 4 from next year.
