'Our relationship just fizzled out': Alexandra Burke reveals that she no longer speaks to former X Factor mentor Cheryl Cole
Alexandra Burke and her X-factor mentor Cheryl Cole shared tears of joy at winning the X-Factor.
But now the former friends seem to have drifted apart, even though both of them spend time in the States.
Alexandra, 24, claims that she and Cheryl have not spoken in more than a year, despite having had a close relationship on the show five years ago.
No longer friends: Alexandra Burke has revealed that she is not in contact with Cheryl Cole, who was her X Factor mentor
But she claims there is no bitterness between the pair.
‘Our relationship just fizzled out, I guess. But, as you know, I always wish her well,’ she told The Daily Mirror.
‘Having said that, I can’t sugar-coat s***. The truth of the matter is, we just don’t speak. But when I see her, I see her.’
While she may have hoped to have remained in touch with her mentor, Alex maintains that they have not fallen out.
‘We’ve never had an argument or a “moment” or anything – when I see her it’s always fine, just a quick “Hi, how are you?”’

They also appear to be taking different career paths with Cheryl taking a break from music.
The Call My Name singer is currently taking time out to relax with her American dancer boyfriend Tre Holloway.
Moved on: Alexandra performed at the Apollo Theater Spring Gala Concert in New York last week
Meanwhile Alex is house hunting in Manhattan after having signed a new management deal after she parted ways with her British label, RCA, last month.
She claimed her split with the label was ‘a mutual decision’ which has allowed her to aim for transatlantic success.
Her first steps are promising – she has recorded a duet with a famous US male artist, whose name is being kept under wraps.
She is also believed to be working with the producers behind the rap artist Drake.
This month she also had the honour of singing at New York’s Apollo theatre alongside soul divas Chaka Khan and Jennifer Holliday.
But her path to superstardom has not been easy after she enjoyed initial chart success following the X Factor.
After winning the show, she was the first British artist to sell more than a million singles with her debut track Hallelujah.
She was also the European record holder for single sales over 24 hours, but was beaten by her mentor Cheryl Cole’s debut solo track Fight for This Love.
Her stardom seemed to wane after she was moved from Simon Cowell’s Syco label to RCA in 2011 and her singles Elephant and Let It Go failed to match her previous chart performance.
