And Penelope Cruz made sure to make the most of them in a simple but eye-catching dress at the 31st annual Jose Maria Forque Awards in Madrid.

Penelope showcased her figure in a plunging ruffle dress that featured a criss-cross back.

The 41-year-old completed her look with a tiny pair of hoop earrings, a black ring and manicured nails.

The Spanish beauty was nominated for her work in the film, Ma Ma.

It was released last September in Spain, her only film release of 2015.

This year alone, the talented actress is set to star in three films. They include:The Queen of Spain, The Brother's Grimsby and Zoolander 2.

For the comedy, Zoolander, Penelope will join a slew of additional A-list talent such as Ben Stiller, Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller and more. She'll play the character of Valentina.

The actress is also set to join husband Javier Bardem, 46, in the movie Escobar this year.

The mother of Leo, four, and Luna, two, will portray Virgina Vallejo, a journalist who falls in love with drug lord Pablo Escobar, played by the star's real-life husband.

But Penelope Cruz was well and truly back on the red carpet with a bang as she pulled out all the sartorial stops at a special screening of her new movie, The Counselor, at London's Odeon West End on Thursday night.

The 39-year-old actress opted for a look of full-on gothic glamour as she showed off her awe-inspiring hourglass figure in a striking full-length lace gown.

The Spanish beauty appeared to have opted for a subtle ombre look, having dyed the lower section of her raven locks a lighter shade - and wore her tumbling curls swept to the side in a dramatic cascade.

Cruz takes on the role of his naive fiance Laura, while Bardem plays tough-talking drug dealer Reiner.

Also starrring the likes of Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz, the movie marks the first on-screen reunion between husband-and-wife Penelope and Javier since 2008's Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

It also reunites Brad with Ridley for the first time since 1991's cult classic Thelma & Louise and sees leading ladies Cruz and Diaz come together once again after their triumph in 2001 hit Vanilla Sky.

The Counselor is scheduled for release in the US on October 25, and in the UK on November 15.

She only gave birth to her second child in July but Penelope Cruz had no problem stripping off on a family beach holiday.

The 39-year-old jetted off for a sunshine break in Corsica with her husband Javier Bardem, 44 and their two children for the last two weeks of August.

Penelope was spotted showing off her post-baby figure as the family relaxed with friends on the beach.

The Vicky Cristina Barcelona star broke out her bikini for the beach trip, with the new mum showing off her already trim body in a skimpy floral two-piece.

The brunette beauty splashed around with her two-year-old son Leonardo in the blue waters, and at one point the mother and son snuggled up for a hug in the sea with dad Javier.

Proud parents Penelope and Javier were also seen pushing little Leo around in a pink inflatable boat in the shallow waters.

Javier looked completely enamored with his wife of three years as he constantly leaned in for a kiss or a hug from the brunette.

Later on the family enjoyed a sail around the Mediterranean waters on a luxury boat with Penelope covered up in a bright blue jumper.
