Period detail: Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay reveals her secret side onscreen
By J J ANISIOBI
Jessica Brown Findlay makes sure that her best side is always captured by the camera when she acts in Downton Abbey.
The popular ITV1 period drama tries its utmost to make sure there is continuity in the show, which means that Jessica has to work extra hard.
The 22-year-old actor, who plays Lady Sybil, has to make sure only her right hand side is visible because she has so many piercings in her left ear.
Hidden gem: Jessica Brown Findlay has to hide her left ear piercings when on Downton Abbey
Whenever the British star must film a close-up shot she is ordered to turn her head and have the camera approach her from a certain angle.
That way the multiple piercings, which are not fitting of the 1920s, can be hidden from view.
Speaking to the Telegraph newspaper, she said: 'I’ve got four piercings in my left, so we’ve dubbed my right one the ‘period drama ear’.
'I have to be filmed from that side when I do emotional close-ups in Downton.'
Era accurate: Jessica always removes her piercings for continuity purposes
Jessica has no problem with removing three of her earrings for the drama and her holes are not visible from a distance.
However, this problem is not an issue for the third series of Downton, because the women get to wear cropped hair in a bobbed style as the era evolves.
Jessica's star is set to rise as she has agreed to star in a big Hollywood movie with some of the world's most famous talent.
Thanks to Downton Abbey's phenomenal success in the U.S.A, it has opened the door of opportunity for the young star and she will appear in Winter's Tale, with Russell Crowe, Colin Farrell and Will Smith.
