America's fabulous flower girls: McKayla Maroney and rest of Team USA's victorious gymnasts take a victory lap of New York

If you thought they were loved at the London Olympic Games, the U.S. gymnastics teams is adored back on American soil.
Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Jordyn Wieber, Kyla Ross, and Aly Raisman had a field day in new York on Tuesday, culminating in an appearance on the David Letterman Show.
The team, dubbed the 'Fierce Five' were on the couch with Letterman discussing what sports they would like to compete in.

'Track,' said Gabby Douglas with a smile. 'I'd face Ussain.' At which Letterman joked: 'He could carry you in his pocket.'
For McKayla it was volleyball, 'because I'm just that tall,' while Jordyn and Kyla opted for volleyball. 'But you always get sand in your pants' quipped Letterman.
The girls got a wild round of applause from the audience as Letterman handed each of them a rose, the good-natured host pretending to prick himself on the thorns as he passed them down.

The team certainly proved they each had a head for heights at the Olympic Games as they wowed crowds with their impressive vault and beam displays.
And earlier on Tuesday they soared even higher as they took a trip up New York's Empire State Building.
The girls were pictured on top of the skyscraper as part of a well deserved post-games city break, dress in matching Team USA kit.

They posed with their trophies round their necks, having brought home an impressive array of gold and silverware from the London Games.
The girls playfully bit their medals and grinned for the cameras, posting the photographs online on Twitter.
'On top of the empire state building.. AMAZING!!!' Team captain Aly tweeted.
'This day keeps getting better and better! Having soooo much fun with the girls.'
With beaming smiles they looked to be literally on top of the world, no doubt reliving their successes from the past two weeks.
