Victoria Pendleton's plain look before makeover

Before the makeover: Blonde, curly locks with a ruddy complexion... Raven-haired Victoria Pendleton's plain look in long forgotten snap

She is the golden girl of Team GB - but it wasn't always the case.
Olympian Victoria Pendleton, 32, may well cringe at this long forgotten photo from the 2004 Athens Games which shows her in less glamorous mode.
The picture shows a fresh-faced Victoria, then a member of the 2004 Great Britain Cycling team during the kitting out of the British Olympic Team for the 2004 Olympic Games.

Victoria, who is now competing on the sequin-fest that is Strictly Come Dancing, is seen with blonde curly hair and a ruddy, natural complexion, well before the Pantene hair contract, and the lush Angelina Jolie style locks she has become famous for.
And while she certainly looked the part of an athlete, she is unrecognisable from the glamorous raven-haired beauty she is today.
The cyclist's bid for medal glory at the Athens games ended in tears after she finished sixth in the time trial and ninth in the 200m sprint, while her more experienced cycling teammates collected four medals.
As well as undergoing a glamorous makeover she has since notched up an impressive two golds and a silver in the 2008 and 2012 games.

Victoria's model like looks have seen her land contracts with hair product line Pantene and post Olympics experts said she could now earn £1million a year with deals promoting lifestyle, fashion and make-up, as well as earning up to £20,000 a time on the corporate speaking circuit.
For now she is busy getting to grips with the foxtrot and the jive on Strictly. However it hasn't all been plain cycling.
In an interview in the current edition of Radio Times, Miss Pendleton said: ‘Brendan may make a dancer of me yet.

‘I actually managed to retain some of the steps from the week before. I now know what a chase and a heel lead are.'
That attitude paid off as she was back on track during the weekend’s live shows, scoring a solid 26 out of 40, a huge improvement on her first dance which achieved a measly 16 points and saw her placed last.
Dancing to classic tune Moondance, she was praised for her natural poise and was voted through to the next round on Sunday night’s results show.
Miss Pendleton said: ‘I felt so much more comfortable with the foxtrot.
'My legs were bent and felt more natural and it was slower and I had more time to think, which is obviously what I need.’
And it seems her competitive spirit is back in play as well.
She said: ‘The one thing that cycling has taught me, that I can bring into the dance studio is that when you fall off your bike you just have to dust yourself off and jump straight back on.’
The full interview with Victoria is in the new issue of the Radio Times, on sale now.
