But while Ellie Goulding and Niall Horan are yet to confirm that they're an item, it seems that One Direction fans have already been very vocal about the possible romance.
Admitting that she'd received some 'interesting' tweets since the story broke, the pop singer has sparked a backlash on the social networking site.

'Oh God, I knew this was coming. I just can't talk about Niall,' she told The Mirror. 'I won't ever talk about my love life anymore as it's always then gone wrong when I have in the past.'
While the 19-year-old boyband member has spoken out in the past about having a 'crush' on Ellie, it seems that the 26-year-old Burn singer is a little more guarded thanks to his fanbase.
'I will say this, I’ve definitely had some ‘interesting’ tweets since the story came out,' she admitted. 'Thankfully I’m able to take it all with a pinch of salt because I’ve been told to be that way.'
But the blonde singer didn't seem too worried about the level of attentions she was received from hysterical fans, admitting that she appreciates their 'passion.'

'I genuinely mean this – I don’t hate on anyone, but at least One Direction fans are very passionate and my fans are very passionate too,' she added.

It recently emerged that Ellie had split from actor boyfriend Jeremy Irvine, and she had been regularly texting the One Direction star for the last three weeks, according to reports.

Despite being one of the most popular singers in the world, with legions of female admirers following his very move, Niall has admitted that he's besotted with Ellie.
Speaking to GQ Magazine last month, he said: 'I’ll say one thing: Ellie Goulding—wow. She’s absolutely amazing looking.'
He even tweeted about her last month, writing: 'Everyone my good friend @EllieGoulding Has a huge tune out right now! And I really want her t get #1, go get it.'
