Lupita Nyong'o dazzles in palm tree-patterned mini dress as she is honored at Maui Film Festival

Well she IS in Hawaii! Lupita Nyong'o dazzles in palm tree-patterned mini dress as she is honored at Maui Film Festival

No one can say 2014 has been anything but a stellar year for actress Lupita Nyong'o.
First came the Best Supporting Oscar for her role in 12 Years a Slave, then she was named People Magazine's Most Beautiful and this week the 31-year-old was honored at the Maui Film Festival in Wailea.
And to mark the occasion, Lupita chose to wear an electric blue dress embroidered with gold palm trees as she picked up the prestigious award.

The beauty matched the strappy, trapeze dress by Italian designer Fausto Puglisi with gold Louboutin wedge sandals and gold nail varnish.
She accepted the 2014 Rainmaker Award on Saturday night.
Organizers said she was recognized 'in honor of her eclectic choices and charismatic performance which encourage us all to expand our definition of what it means to be human.'
As well as 12 Years A Slave, Lupita created, directed, edited and produced a 2009 documentary called In My Genes which followed the lives of eight Kenyans with genetic disorder Albinism.

Lupita, who was born in Mexico but grew up in Kenya and attended Yale Drama School, has recently joined the cast of Star Wars VII.
But she gave little away to reporters keen for details on the movie, which is being filmed at Pinewood in London.
According to the Star Advertiser newspaper, the starlet would only say: 'I'm going to a galaxy far, far away.'

Although not before she had taken some time to enjoy Maui.
'My favorite part was going to Waimoku Falls and passing through the bamboo forest,' she told the paper.
Other honorees during the five-day event that wrapped up Sunday were Emma Roberts, Evan Rachel Wood, Joe Manganiello and Shep Gordon.
