X Factor judges Cheryl Cole and Mel B battle it out in black and white short skirts at the first X Factor auditions

A mini adventure begins! X Factor judges Cheryl Cole and Mel B battle it out in black and white short skirts at the first X Factor auditions

It looked like the battle of the mini skirts at the first X Factor auditions, as judges Cheryl Cole and Mel B arrived in tiny numbers.
Cheryl's white outfit was complete with an off-white pleated skirt, while Mel had chosen a black and golden studded number.
Clearly both judges had physically prepared for this day, as both their legs looked toned to perfection as they arrived in Manchester.

Cheryl complemented her mini with a crisp white blouse and metallic blue sandals, while styling her blonder hair with a sleek side-parting. She finished off the outfit with Stephen Webster jewellery.
This would Cheryl's first appearance as a reality show judge since she was unceremoniously booted off The X Factor USA judging panel during it's first ever series, in 2011, after only three weeks.

Mel has already been a guest judge on the show, but this was her first day on the official X Factor judging panel on Monday.
The former Spice Girl looked sexy in a black leotard worn with a wrap mini-skirt featuring large gold studs. With her hair tied back into a sleek ponytail and her feet tucked into a pair of nude Christian Louboutins, Mel looked ready to work and find some great singing talent.

The judge formerly known as Scary Spice certainly made friendly arrival at the  in Manchester, as she stopped to take photos and sign autographs for fans on her way into the venue.
It will be interesting to see the dynamics of the judging panel, as The Mirror recently reported that Mel has refused to acquiesce to Simon's request to be harsh on contestants.
According to The Mirror, she told the music mogul 'I won't be your Miss Nasty.'
She's something of a musical reality show expert, already having sat on the judging panel for X Factor Australia and America's Got Talent.

Mel was in Sydney filming the conclusion to The Voice Kids Australia, which will begin airing on Sunday, June 22.
But the new judge certainly didn’t seem tired, despite arriving back to London from Sydney, Australia, on Sunday after a long-haul flight.
Mel will soon be joining returning judges Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh in this series, in Cowell’s attempt to boost ratings following a few seasons away from the show.
The straight-talking star said she was 'so excited' to be coming back after appearing as a guest judge in 2012 and is reported to have signed a deal worth £1 million.

She said last week: 'I've always thought honesty is the best policy when being a judge and that's what I'm going to bring more of this year - whether it's spotting an incredible singer, giving someone a reality check or debating with Simon over who's got it wrong. Now I can't wait to get started and find some amazing talent.'
Cowell said he was 'thrilled' by the appointment, adding: 'She is feisty, opinionated and, I believe, will be a great mentor.'

Sarah-Jane, 29, arrived in a leather mini-skirt paired with a white shirt, black pussy-bow and platform sandals at Lancashire County Cricket Club, Manchester.
This is the eleventh series of the X Factor, having graced British screens since 2004, and Dermot O'Leary returns as the main show host for his eighth year.
The first round of auditions involve would-be contestants performing for just the four judges - with them only getting the chance to sing at the later arena auditions if they are successful.
Further preliminary auditions will also be held in London, Newcastle and Edinburgh.
