Leigh Francis first burst onto the scene after he made viewers all over the nation laugh with his television show Bo' Selecta!

But it his fictional character Keith Lemon who has really stood the test of time and gone on to continue to keep audiences everywhere in hysterics.

With no plans to stop any time soon Lemon was up to his usual antics at this year's Bafta Television Awards when he tried to get a picture with his Celebrity Juice co-hosts Fearne Cotton, 30, and Holly Willoughby, 31.

It had all started out well when Fearne and her BFF Holly Willoughby smiled as they showed off their floor length dresses.

But wanting in on the action the 38-year-old comic who is known for his love of the female form interrupted the blondes as they tried to pose on the Union Jack themed red carpet at the Royal Festival Hall.

Lemon knelt down and proceeded to stick his head in between Willoughby's and Cotton's hips as they stood side by side.

Used to his outlandish ways, Fearne and Holly simply played along and let him have his moment.

As the girls walked away, the cheeky host then pretended to get a feel of their derrieres.

Earlier in the day, Fearne took to her Twitter to tell her fans of a rather unfortunate event that took place as she went for her run.

She tweeted, 'Just went for a run and a bird crapped on my actual FACE! That has to be good luck for tonight right ? #BAFTA's'

Seemingly the bird poo proved lucky as tonight Lemon's panel show Celebrity Juice won the YouTube Audience Award which last year went to the hit reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex.

Pre-nerves: Holly posted a picture of herself as she made her way to the award show, her caption read, 'BAFTA here I come!!!! X'

Holly who wore a pretty pink floor length gown uploaded a picture of herself in the backseat of a car with her fingers crossed as she made her way to the ceremony which obviously helped them take the gong home. 

With good reason it was Keith who was the most nervous about the award show and he even put into words what his plan for the evening would be if he missed out on the trophey.

He tweeted, 'On me way t' Baftas! Can't believe I just said that. Sweating a bit, wish I'd have worn me new shorts. So if we win, ace! If we don't ....'

He continued, 'Loose and booze!'

Party back at the Rovers! Coronation Street beats reigning champions EastEnders to win Best Soap at the BAFTA TV Awards

It's a constant battle between the rival soaps every year at every glitzy, glamorous star-studded awards ceremony over who will take home the Best Soap crown.

Especially at a prestigious event such as the British Academy Television Awards, which last year crowned EastEnders as the winner of its Soap and Continuing Drama Award.

But in what has been a truly turbulent year for the residents of Coronation Street, this year the gong went to them.

And the cast and some of the crew looked stunned and delighted as award presenters Alex Jones and Bruno Tonioli made the announcement.

Cast members including Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina McIntyre, Willima Roache, best known as Ken Barlow and Chris Fountain who stars as Tommy Duckworth, couldn't stop smiling as they took to the stage to accept the award.

And Roache paid tribute to his colleagues and praised the 'team effort' behind the long-running show.

Other winners on the night included the ITV drama Appropriate Adult, which scooped three gongs including Supporting Actress Monica Dolan for her portrayal of Rose West and one for Dominic West as Leading Actor for his role as notorious serial killer Fred West.

Paying tribute to Janet Leach, who served as West's confident after his arrest, he said: 'I hope she has had some closure and we have honoured the suffering she endured and the suffering of all the West's victims, living and dead.'

Emily Watson, who played Leach and won the Leading Actress award added: 'When I first heard about this show I thought I probably shouldn't do it because of the subject matter - and then I read the script.'

But she admitted the role had taken its toll, and added: 'I know things I wish I didn't about that case.'

The night was hosted by Irish comic Dara O'Briain, who lost out on the award for Entertainment Performance which went to Graham Norton.

O'Briain joked he could not begrudge the Eurovision Song Contest coverage host his award, 'because he's spent the last 24 hours comforting Engelbert Humperdinck'.

Drama Series went to The Fades, Single Drama went to Channel 4's Random and the Current Affairs gong was given to BBC1's Panorama: Undercover Care - The Abuse Exposed.

The Factual Series award went to BBC3's Our War which followed British troops on the ground in Afghanistan, BBC1's Mrs Brown's Boys won the Situation Comedy category, beating competition including Rev and Fresh Meat.

The International Award went to the critically-acclaimed Danish political drama Borgen, Sport and Live Event went to the team behind BBC1's coverage of the Royal Wedding and the Specialist Factual award went to Channel 4's Mummifying Alan: Egypt's Last Secret.

The Mini Series award went to Shane Meadows' This Is England '88, with the writer and director thanking his real family and his 'film family', while Entertainment Programme award went to Derren Brown: The Experiments.

Newsreader Kate Silverton presented the Single Documentary award to BBC2's Terry Pratchett: Choosing To Die - the best-selling author's examination of euthanasia.

Pratchett, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, thanked the BBC for 'allowing us to tackle this rather strange subject for a documentary'.

He also paid tribute to the family of Peter Smedley who allowed the documentary film to show his final days in the run-up to his death at a clinic.

Pratchett said: 'It turned us about a bit but we saw what happened and so did you.'

Jennifer Saunders won the award for Female Performance in a Comedy Programme for her return to Absolutely Fabulous and she said: 'That was a bit of a shock, thank you for still finding it funny.'

And the YouTube Audience Award, the only one voted for by the public, was presented by Amy Childs and Harry Derbridge from The Only Way is Essex, which won it last year.

This year it went to Celebrity Juice - the quiz show hosted by Keith Lemon, the comic alter-ego of Leigh Francis.

The award for best Male Performance in a Comedy Programme went to Darren Boyd for Sky One's Spy.

Having beaten better-known names including Hugh Bonneville and Tom Hollander, Boyd promptly said he should never have won, adding: 'That is ridiculous, Tom Hollander should have won this for that clip alone. This is ridiculous, but I'll take it.'

The last award of the night was the Bafta Fellowship, given to veteran Australian artist and entertainer Rolf Harris.

Presenting him with the award, actor Robert Lindsay said he was 'a national British treasure' and introduced a film of tributes from big names including Russell Crowe.

Harris came on stage to a standing ovation, brandished his award and joked: 'I was going to say "Can you tell what it is yet?", but perhaps I won't. How amazing is it to discover what you love doing most can become your career, if you've been as lucky as I have been.'

This week Kelly Brook showed off several looks when she touched almost every event at the 65th Cannes Film Festival.

But now back from the French Riviera the model has taken on another look from her ever expanding wardrobe and decided to show off her inner ballerina as she stepped onto the red carpet at the 2012 Bafta Television Awards.

Brook stunned in Chantilly lace dress by Jacques Azagury which had embroidered tulle and beads over a nude bodice with a pleated layered skirt and nude organza petticoat.

She teamed the dress with a pair of navy and cream strappy open toe heels and a navy clutch bag.

Her tweet read, 'Wearing Jaques Azagury tonight #Bafta' but more exciting the model revealed news that she would be launching her new fashion range for New Look.

Looking forward to the red carpet event, she tweeted, 'Here we go! #baftas #everyonelooksfit'.

Coronation Street's Nataile Gumede showed off her slim figure in a lace dress which braved a thigh high split and she added a splash of colour to her look with lashings of scarlet lipstick.

The actress, 28, who plays Kirsty Soames in the popular soap was another star who showed her enthusiasm for the award ceremony on Twitter.

As she made her way into London for the event she posted a tweet to the micro blogging site that read, 'Bag is packed for @BAFTA! Excited!'

Falling victim to the scorching weather in the capital the presenter joked on Twitter about how hot she was as she posed for the cameras at the Royal Festival Hall.

On the social networking site she quipped, 'It's such a glorious day and my dress for the Baftas is actually melting me! Lol. Seriously though, 27 degrees outside and 35 in my sequins!'
