Jessica Alba admits she struggled with her sex symbol status as she wows in ethereal InStyle shoot

'I went through a life crisis': Jessica Alba admits she struggled with her sex symbol status as she wows in ethereal InStyle shoot

She's the co-founder of a billion dollar company, a movie star with several titles under her belt and a happily married mother of two daughters.
But Jessica Alba has admitted that she struggled during the early days of her fame.
The 35-year-old spoke about shedding her sex symbol status during an interview with InStyle Magazine's July 2016 issue.

Jessica also graced the cover of the upcoming issue, which hits newsstands on June 10, and looked absolutely beautiful while posing in a meadow.
The actress sat on the grass while wearing a lovely white dress and natural make-up, with her brunette hair wet.
And while Jessica is now seen as one of the most successful entrepreneurs in Hollywood, she realised at the age of 25 that she was being typecast as sexy characters in movies.
'I sort of went through a life crisis,' she confessed. I was like, "This isn't what I set out to be. I'm so much more than this, but I don't know how not to be a sex symbol."'
'My sexuality made me very uncomfortable': The actress confessed she had a hard time being seen as a sex symbol after her big break in Dark Angel. She is seen here in a shot from the show in 2002

Jessica, who was raised Catholic, recalled having a hard time being seen as a sex object after her breakout role in Dark Angel when she was a teenager.
'My sexuality made me very uncomfortable,' she told InStyle.
'I remember my first Maxim shoot, they were telling me to pose a certain way, and I was like, "Agh! I'm 19. I'm a virgin. I don't even know how to do that." It was so awkward.'
But after her 'life crisis' at the age of 25, Jessica revealed that everything fell into place when she fell pregnant with her first child.

Jessica was by no means resting on her laurels and was in Seoul, South Korea on Thursday to mark her company's expansion of her products to the country.
The Honest Company was inspired in 2008 when Jessica was engaged to Cash Warren and expecting their first child.
Her mother Cathy at a baby shower advised her to use baby detergent to prewash the onesies she received as gifts and Jessica used a mainstream brand.

The actress broke out in ugly red welts that reminded her of childhood problems with bad allergies, chronic asthma and regular bouts with pneumonia.
'She was the most sensitive child,' her mother Cathy told Forbes.
The detergent incident prompted Jessica to search out more natural and eco-friendly products and she even tried making her own cleaning products out of baking soda, vinegar and essential oils.

Jessica partnered with Christopher Gavigan who for seven years had a nonprofit called Healthy Child Healthy World and they started coming up with a business plan.
They teamed up with Web entrepreneur Brian Lee and fourth co-founder Sean Kane and The Honest Company startup was seeded with about $6 million.

'I'm not going to lie. Working out sucks,' she told the publication.'I have to break a sweat or I don't feel like I've gotten anything done.'
'When I only have 30 minutes, I'll do a series of burpees, mountain climbers, squat jumps, planks, and a few sun salutations,' she revealed.
'I love taking classes, because I'm surrounded by other people and that keeps me motivated and accountable. These days, I do power yoga with light weights in a 105-degree room, so it’s a mix of hot yoga and strength training. I also spin. The key for me is good music, like 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Beyonce,' Alba confessed.

Her fitness routine has been a part of her life that has been shaped just in the last decade.
'I attribute my athletic body to the martial arts, gymnastics, dance, and strength training I did while filming Dark Angel. That's made me strong and really set the bar,' she shared.
Dark Angel is one of the first major TV roles for Jessica having starred in the James Cameron-created series from 2000 to 2002.
'I wasn't truly confident about my body until I had my daughters, Honor [aged seven] and Haven [aged three],' Jessica continued.

'I felt more comfortable in my own skin after they were born. Plus, if I want them to be happy with their bodies, I need to walk the walk.'
Jessica's physique is not all attributed to fitness. Diet is of utmost importance as well.
One of her favorite healthy treats is a homemade green smoothie.
'I was never a big breakfast person - I used to just pound coffee and a banana in the morning - but recently I started making this shake using vegan protein powder, matcha green tea powder, a banana, coconut water, and ice.

'I drink it before a workout and it doesn’t make me feel too full. Or I can have it afterward and feel satisfied until lunch.'
And even her guilty pleasure is somewhat healthy. 'I’m addicted to popcorn,' she said.
'I eat it throughout the day. I’m a scatterbrain with lots of things to do at once, and eating popcorn helps me concentrate. It’s my way of dealing with my mind wandering off.'
