They met and fell in love on the set of new movie The Light Between Oceans.
And Michael Fassbender and girlfriend Alicia Vikander are still very much going strong, as they promoted the film at the Venice Film Festival.
The couple only had eyes for each other as they arrived arm in arm at the Sala Grand in the Italian city, with Alicia looking distinctive in a peasant style dress.

The unusual number consisted of a plunging black floral sleeveless dress worn over a silver glittery underlay gown with frilled hem.
The 27-year-old Swedish actress wore her long brown hair in a chic bun, with black strappy sandals completing the look.
Michael, meanwhile, kept thinks simple in a navy blue suit and matching tie, arriving on the carpet in sunglasses.

The pair strolled arm in arm along the red carpet, stopping occasionally to share a joke or to pose for waiting photographers.
Later, they settled into their seats next to each other to watch the movie in the theatre with Alicia standing up to take a bow at one point.

The Light Between Oceans is a romantic period film based on the 2012 novel of the same name by M. L. Stedman.
In it, Michael and Alicia play a lighthouse keeper and his wife living off the coast of Western Australia just after World War I.
The couple end up rescuing and adopting a baby girl who washes up on a boat before a chance encounter on the mainland threatens everything they hold dear.

Earlier, the couple both appeared at a press event to discuss the film which co-stars British actress Rachel Weisz.
'I knew that Michael was attached to play Tom, and I think he’s one of the most brilliant actors out there,' Alicia said before paying tribute to her boyfriend.
'I was up for the game, but I was very nervous. I got people that picked me up when I fell and who pushed me. Michael's support in those scenes were a big part of me daring to go all the way, which was needed for the role of Isabel.'

The issue of motherhood, explored in the movie, prompted Alicia to discuss starting a family some time in the future.
'It’s one of those things that I feel to be the biggest mystery to one day have a child. I always imagine myself to one day have a family.'

The couple have endeavoured to keep their relationship as private as possible.
'I think we’ve made a clear statement that we keep certain things just between us,' Alicia told Entertainment Weekly last year. 'It was very easy to unite, but that’s quite personal.
'I’m not going to talk about my private life with a total stranger, unless I feel like I need to. Why would I? I don’t,' added Michael.

The Light Between Oceans is already garnering mixed reviews with Entertainment Weekly's Leah Greenblatt describing it as: 'The whole thing is feverishly earnest and more than a little manipulative, but it’s also possibly the prettiest two hours of emotional masochism so far this year.'
Variety's film critic Owen Gleiberman said: 'There’s no denying that the movie, while lavishly shot and acted with impeccable gravity, has the operatic manipulativeness of a deeply solemn chick flick posing as art.'
The Hollywood Reporter's Jon Frosch was more scathing, adding: 'Yes, there are worse ways to spend a few hours than watching two of our prettiest performers swoon in each other’s arms. But the film, poised awkwardly between costume-drama prestige and all-out schmaltz, is so busy sweeping us up in a swirl of music, scenery and beautiful, suffering faces that it forgets to do the actual work of earning our emotions.'

Meanwhile, the star-studded festival also attracted Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner who walked the red carpet in support of their film Arrival.
Amy plays a linguist in the movie about mysterious spacecraft landing on earth, while Jeremy stars as a mathematician with the duo forming part of an elite team to investigate the phenomena.
The film is based on a short story 'Story Of Your Life' by Ted Chiang.
