Karen Gillan speaks out after fans attack her skimpy attire in Jumanji reboot

'There is a reason I'm wearing child-sized clothes': Karen Gillan speaks out after fans attack her skimpy attire in Jumanji reboot

It is a costume that has caused a stir for all the wrong reasons.
And Karen Gillan has been forced to speak out to defend the skimpy costume she has been pictured wearing in a teaser image from the forthcoming Jumanji reboot.
Social media users have criticised the skimpy nature of her outfit, despite the fact it showcases the sexy Scot's admirable physique, as her male costars are wearing much less revealing ensembles.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, the ginger 28-year-old said: 'Yes I'm wearing child sized clothes and YES there is a reason! The pay off is worth it, I promise! #Jumanji.'
The Inverness beauty's message reassured some fans, a move that filled her man mountain costar Dwayne Johnson with joy.
Responding to a fan's message, The Rock tweeted: 'Ha yes Jill, thank ya for trusting me. Our costumes will all make fun sense soon.'

Quite what the cryptic hint means is anyone's guess, though considering the film revolves around a magical boardgame that has the power to suck players into it, it does not seem beyond the realm of possibility Karen's character is a child who turns into adult form after she is transported to another dimension during play.
It could even be the case her character has been stuck in the game so long she has completely outgrown what would be amazingly well-preserved clothes.
Of course Karen's response did not satisfy all of the critics.
One wag called Jon the Revelator imagined a high-powered boardroom meeting led the the choice of outfit, tweeting: 'Exec 1: "How do we sell a reboot no one really wants?"

'Exec 2: "Karen Gillan in tight clothing." E. 1: "Who says Hollywood's out of ideas?"'
Meanwhile one fan had an idea that would be sure to thrill Dwayne's fanbase, saying: 'I think the comedy value would have been higher if the rock was wearing Child sized clothes.'
Shooting on the film began in Hawaii on Tuesday, and the film is scheduled to be released in July 2017.

Filming for the new Jumanji movie kicked off in Hawaii on Monday.
And the next day a photo of the cast in character was shared by actor Kevin Hart.
Also in the snap is Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Jack Black and Karen Gillan. The original came out in 1995 and starred the late Robin Williams as well as Kirsten Dunst, Bonnie Hunt and Bradley Pierce.

'Day 1 of shooting Jumanji is officially in the can. We had a amazing first day,' wrote the comedian.
'The chemistry & energy of our cast & crew was beyond amazing!!!!
'This movie is going to be dope as hell....Can't wait to get back to work tomorrow.' His hashtags included the names of his co-stars.
Also joining the cast is singer Nick Jonas though he was not pictured.
Pointing out how well the cast is getting along seems deliberate as The Rock had a hard time with some of his cast mates on his late film, Fast 8.

It's clear Hart does not want people thinking that bad energy followed the 44-year-old superstar.
This movie is not being billed as a remake of the Williams classic, but rather a 'continuation.'
The Rock said: 'As a producer on this movie and someone who loves the original, you have my word we'll honor the legend of 'Alan Parrish' and properly introduce a whole new generation to the fun and crazy Jumanji universe that so many of us loved and grew up on.'

'This is gonna be fun...,' the actor promised.
The first Jumanji was about a magical board game that unleashes a world of adventure on siblings Peter (Pierce) and Judy Shepherd (Dunst). While exploring an old mansion, the youngsters find a curious, jungle-themed game called Jumanji in the attic. When they start playing, they free Alan Parrish (Williams), who's been stuck in the game's inner world for decades.
If they win Jumanji, the kids can free Alan for good, but that means braving giant bugs, ill-mannered monkeys and even stampeding rhinos.

Former Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan completes an all-star line-up as she's cast for new Jumanji film

She's more familiar to British fans as Doctor Who's red-headed companion Amy Pond.
But Karen Gillan's career has a more Hollywood slant to it these days.
The 28-year-old Scottish actress has just been announced as the star of the new Jumanji movie.

The big news was announced on Tuesday by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in a gushing Instagram post which featured a striking image of the actress.
'Between myself, @kevinhart4real Jack Black and @NickJonas we've searched far and wide to find the one person to complete our #JUMANJI family,' he wrote.
'This isn't just any role, but in many ways the most important role of the movie. We had to find a girl. But not just any girl.

'A girl who has "Chutzpah". Guts, nerve and talent to stand her ground and hold her own against Nick's cool rockstar ways, Jack's relentless energy and genius, Kevin's masterful timing and skills and the big, brown, bald tattooed guy who just simply stands there and oooooozes smoldering, captivating, sizzling, can't take your eyes off this brilliant manly man.. never mind I got drunk on the ol' DJ kool aid again.
'Ladies and gentlemen, I'm proud to announce a girl who's playing the most important role in our movie - the talented, beautiful and down for a Scottish fight at any time, Ms @KarenGillanOfficial.
'And yes, this is the girl who is so bad a**,  she shaved her freaking head for Guardians of the Galaxy.'
Karen will play Martha in the film which co-stars Kevin Hart, Nick Jonas, Jack Black and Johnson in what's being touted as a 'reimagining' of the original 1995 movie based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg where a magical board game causes jungle plants and creatures to invade an American suburb

According to Deadline, Karen's casting ends several months of searching, with some 'serious A-list talent' auditioning.
