While Nicole Richie has certainly cemented her status as a top celebrity designer with her boho fashion line, House of Harlow 1960, it’s now the turn of her little sister, Sofia Richie, to make a name for herself in the fashion world.

The 16-year-old model has appeared in numerous fashion campaigns and magazines, and is now breaking into the big time as the face of Material Girl, the fashion line created by Madonna and her daughter Lourdes ‘Lola’ Leon. Sofia stars in the fashion brand's colorful new campaign, which celebrates its five-year anniversary. 

 'It's such an honor for me to announce that I'm the new face of Madonna and Lola's Material Girl!' Sofia captioned a photo from the campaign that she posted on Instagram. 'Can't wait to show you the awesome ads we created in NYC.'

Material Girl - which is a joint project for Macy's by Madonna and her 18-year-old daughter - has been known to feature bold, spunky young women with a unique sense of style in its campaigns. Past faces of the brand have included Kelly Osbourne, Rita Ora, and Zendaya.

This time around, Sofia models crop tops, faux-leather jackets, body-con dresses, and pleated skirts on a fifth birthday party set, complete with a candle-topped birthday cake, presents, and balloons. 

Madonna spoke out about her new choice of spokesmodel, whom she picked personally, saying: 'Sofia Richie perfectly embodies the style and spirit of Material Girl and is the ideal new face for the line.'

Her daughter Lourdes added: 'Coming from an artistic family, self-expression is in our blood. I love Sofia’s style and energy, and look forward to collaborating with her.' 

The feeling of admiration is mutual. Speaking to Access Hollywood, Sofia explained that she's been a fan of the Queen of Pop since she sat in the front row at her concert at the age of five.

'Of course I look up to Madonna,' she added to Yahoo Style. 'I mean, she’s Madonna. She’s like the god of music.'

Having grown up in Southern California, Sofia also runs in the same circles as Madge's 18-year-old daughter - which paid off beautifully when the Material Girl duo were looking for a new campaign star.

'I have a few friends in common with Madonna’s daughter, and we’ve been wanting to meet for a few years,' she said. 'And then one day, I just heard, like, hey Madonna and her daughter want you to shoot for their line and I was like wow, that’s so crazy. There are so many people that Madonna and Lola could have picked to be the new face, and it’s really cool to be a part of.'

Sofia already has plenty of experience posing in pretty clothes. Previously, she has modeled for e-retailer ASOS, fashion website Who What Wear, Elle, V Magazine, and Dazed magazine, and is already thinking about following in her big sister Nicole's footsteps with a fashion line of her own.

'I love modeling and being involved in the fashion industry,' she said, adding that she also plans to embark on a music career some day. 'I for sure want to have my own clothing line.'

Folling their lead: While she is building a career of her own, Sofia admitted that having a famous dad and sister has been stressful

But while having a famous name has certainly opened doors for Sofia, she explained that it has also left her feeling the pressure. Though she doesn't feel overshadowed by her sister or her dad, Lionel Richie, their success in Hollywood definitely pushes her to do better.

'As I get deeper into the industry, I notice that it always comes back to my dad and my sister,' she said. 'And sometimes I’m like, well, what about just me? The Richie name sometimes doesn’t let you be just you, it pulls you back to your family and your past.'

Her proximity to fame isn't just by blood, either. Besides her new connection to the Material Girl herself, Sofia is friends with It Girl models like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Bella Hadid, and sometimes shares photos of herself hanging out with her well-known besties on social media.

In May, she even went to the Met Gala as a guest of designer Stella McCartney, which landed her a prime spot at a table that included Cara Delevingne and former Material Girl star Zendaya.

Rita Ora has resumed shooting for Madonna’s Material Girl range and looks more stunning than ever.

The 23-year-old star passed out while modelling the range on the same set in the middle of November, and was rushed to hospital with dehydration. 

But it seems like the singer’s much better now and back on form; she’s was modelling a matching skirt and top on Monday in Miami.

Wearing a matching Aztec print outfit, Rita stretched herself out across the boot of a convertible car  and posed perfectly for the cameras.

The star kept her hair simple and her make-up to a minimum with just her trademark red lips adding a zing of colour to the black and white outfit. 

The loose curls of her hair fell gently on the star’s face and her manicure was a plain beige colour.

Rita looked much happier than last time she was on set – and the star even posted a picture onto Twitter of her getting ready for the important shoot. 

With a  number of her entourage following her, Rita flaunted a very tiny tummy as she walked to the shoot in a cropped top and high-waisted skirt. 

The British star, who was signed to Jay Z’s label in 2009, was chosen to be the face of Material Girl earlier this year.

It would seem Rita’s getting into the Christmas spirit, as she couldn’t resist paying a visit to Father 

Christmas while she was in the Manhattan branch of Macys on Sunday.

In a series of fun snaps added to her Twitter feed, Rita documented her playful meeting with Santa during which she sat on his knee while giving him a list of stocking fillers.

One shot, added on Sunday afternoon, sees the star sporting a studded leather jacket and black jeans as she outlines her Christmas desires above the caption: ‘Tellin Santa what I want.’ 

In another, posted shortly afterwards, she writes: ‘The moment he realised I’m being Naughty. But he liked it!!’ Haaa.’

For another part of the photo shoot, Rita changed into a grey crop top and kaleidoscope print trousers, while riding in the back of a vintage Chrysler.

She recently confirmed her appointment as the new face of clothing line Material Girl, and now the singer's many fans can get a first look at her debut campaign for Madonna's teen label. 

In an exclusive photo from the campaign, Rita wears a simple summer dress as she poses on the top deck of a London bus.

Another distinctly patriotic shot from the campaign from Rita's Instagram, shows the singer wearing a soldier's bearskin hat while offering a salute outside the gates of Buckingham Palace.

Big things: Rita posed with Madonna as she revealed news of her Material Girl signing on Instagram 

The 22-year-old singer announced last month that she was replacing model Georgia May Jagger as the face of the US label - the brainchild of pop legend Madonna and her daughter, Lourdes  - following speculation that she had signed a lucrative $760,000 contract.

‘Joining forces with Madonna and Lola!’ she posted at the time. ‘It’s official Ritabots – I’m the new face of Material Girl!’

Following her appointment, Madonna and Lourdes admitted they were thrilled to have her onboard.

‘Rita is a talented beauty but what really drew us to her is the confidence she oozes through her music and her unique sense of style,’ they said in a statement. ‘On stage or off, in photos or in the street – she’s a magnet!

‘This is what the Material Girl brand is all about.’

The hit-maker was originally spotted shooting the new campaign around London in May – weeks before she officially confirmed her appointment for the fashion line, which is sold exclusively at US department store Macy’s. 

At the time she posed for a number of playful shots outside the Palace while wearing the bearskin – a hat traditionally worn by the Royal Guards.

Rita also showed off her toned midriff in a loose fitting black and white shirt that was undone save for one button.

The singer was no less eye-catching on Tuesday evening, when she was seen leaving a Ladbroke Grove recording studio in the early hours of the morning sporting a smart metallic jacket and matching skirt.

Rita had previously showcased the outfit earlier that day as she took a stroll on one of the hottest days of the year.

The 22-year-old pop star had certainly made an effort with her daytime look, pairing the high-waisted skirt with a turquoise cropped top and a bright blue cap.

If the Hot Right Now singer was trying to blend into the crowd then she was certainly going the wrong way about it, turning heads as she wandered through town.

Rita covered her long blonde hair with a backwards cap and added her eye-catching reflective glasses over her made up face.

And it seemed that the star was in high spirits as she posted a short video of herself in her car earlier in the day as she sped along, writing: Feel it in my fingers! London!!!.'

The singer seemed to be making the most of her day off ahead of a hectic weekend as she's set to take to the stage at both Wireless and T In The Park.
