Emmy Rossum makes her cleavage her best accessory in a stunning voluminous gown at the Costume Designers Guild Awards

Va va voom! Emmy Rossum makes her cleavage her best accessory in a stunning voluminous gown at the Costume Designers Guild Awards

Emmy Rossum is certainly setting the bar high ahead of the Oscars.
The 28-year-old is really going to have to bring her fashion A game at Sunday's Academy Awards if she wants to beat the dress she wore to the Costume Designers Guild Awards sponsored by LACOSTE.
The Shameless star was impossible not to stare at on Tuesday night as she walked the white carpet in Beverly Hills, California.

Emmy wore a dress which somehow managed to be both simple and have a lot going on at the same time for the very fashionable event.
For the evening, the star stepped out in an off-white gown by Donna Karan Atelier, which featured a cleavage bearing neckline.
While the dress clung to her slender frame up top, at the waist it exploded into a voluminous draped skirt with a dramatic train.

The star was not the only one bringing some drama to the event.
While Emmy looked like a fairy princess, Michelle Monaghan was the rather stylish witch in their fashion fairy tale.

But statement dresses were not the only looks at the Beverly Hilton, masculine inspired style was also the order of the day.

Emmy Rossum in a stunning yellow dress, plus Dita Von Tease at fashion dinner

Ray of sunshine! Emmy Rossum brightens up a dark night in a stunning yellow dress

She's known for her glamorous beauty and Emmy Rossum didn't disappoint when she arrived at a high fashion dinner in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old performer arrived at the Chateau Marmont wearing a beautiful yellow dress that set off her gorgeous chestnut waves perfectly.
She recently opened up to Manhattan magazine about the struggles she has faced as she's pursued her passion for singing and acting for the past two decades.

And she talked about her new album, which drops later this month, explaining how she crafted her tunes without the help of a record label.

'I just decided to do it with my own money,' she admitted.

'Taking the future into my own hands was why I created this record.'
Rossum said she planned on releasing the album online, but fortunately for the talented star, she was able to sell it to a label on her own terms.
Her determination is also what she attributed to landing her the role of a lifetime as the spicy and sexy Fiona Gallagher in the TV series Shameless.

'They didn't want to see me; they wouldn't even [let me] audition,' she said of the show's producers.
'They thought my image too glamorous, that I couldn't not be pretty.'
And while she clamoured for the role as the sexually liberated Fiona, Rossum says that there are some things that she can't relate to with her character.

'I'm not the sex-on-the-first-date kind of girl,' she admitted.
What Emmy does identify with is Fiona's loyalty and personal strength.
'I'm a very loyal person too, sometimes to a fault. I don't let anything send me into a tailspin,' she said.

Things haven't always come easy for Rossum, who opened up about the struggles of growing up the only child of a single mother and her musical education after she joined the Metropolitan Children's Chorus at the age of 7.
'It was all a magical fantasy world, that kind of journey I've always loved that you can get from a good book,' she said.
As a child, Rossum learned to sing in 20 languages and performed with the likes of Luciano Pavarotti and Dolly Parton as well as acting on stage alongside Aidan Quinn and Janet McTeer.

'I realized the decisions I was making were going to affect my whole life,' she said. 'I was conscious it could all disappear.'
But after gaining celebrity from her performances in the ABC TV movie The Audrey Hepburn story and the movie adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera, Rossum admitted that she made a series of bad professional - and personal - choices.
'I talked myself into projects and relationships that weren't always right for me,' she stated.
Now though, she's fully confident in trusting her gut.
'If the milk doesn't smell good, don't drink it. It can be that simple.'
