Corrie bosses boost Georgia May Foote and Paula Lane's pay to '£100K a year to stop them from leaving show'

Corrie bosses boost Georgia May Foote and Paula Lane's pay to '£100K a year to stop them from leaving show'

With the impending departure of Michelle Keegan from Wetherfield, it looks like Coronation Street bosses are pulling out the money bags to keep other female actresses from leaving.
According to the Sun On Sunday, Georgia May Foote and Paula Lane have had their salaries boosted to £100,000 a year, with the promise of juicier storylines, having signed new 12-month deals.
It is believed that show boss Stuart Blackburn has made the move to ensure Keegan's sexy void is filled once her character Tina McIntyre bids farewell to the cobbles.

An insider said: 'Losing Michelle was a real blow to Corrie and Stuart [Blackburn] was adamant that we needed a gorgeous actress to step up - Georgia May was the obvious choice.'
They added: 'It was clear they were desperate for her to sign and would bend over backwards to make sure she did.'
Georgia, 22, currently plays single mother Katy Armstrong in the ITV soap, and her new 12-month contract will see her kept a significant character in the upcoming storylines and given a steamy romance herself.

The actress was previously known for her role as Alison Simmons in CBBC's long-running series Grange Hill, between 2005 and 2008, followed by small parts in Emmerdale, Casualty and Heartbeat.
A similar offer was made to Paula, who plays David Platt's wife Kylie. She reportedly chose not to leave the show after making hints of an exit last year after being promised more screen time and a pay rise.
The actress got her break in Coronation Street, having only a few bit parts in TV series like The Royal, Heartbeat and Doctors before she became Kylie.
Like her co-star, Lane has signed a 12-month deal, and an insider told the Sun On Sunday: 'Losing Paula would have been a blow. But they were able to talk her round and Kylie will be playing a much bigger role on the Street in the coming months.'
She will also reportedly be given time off to marry her fiancé Tom Shaw at some point this year.
An ITV spokesman denied the claims and said: 'we never make comment on salaries and contracts due to this being private and confidential information.'
Keegan isn't the only soapstar to be exiting the show as Michelle Collins, Sue Johnston, Chris Gascoyne, Charlie Condou and Phillip Lowrie have also announced their departures.

Le Vell, who plays mechanic Kevin Webster, hasn't been seen in the ITV soap since February.
The character's absense was explained by his ex-wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) that he had gone to Germany after his father Bill had a heart attack.
Corrie producer Stuart Blackburn said recently: 'At the point when Kevin was forced to leave for Germany, he was actually looking to get back together with Sally.
