It was the scene of her rather tempestuous third marriage to the playboy Gunter Sachs.

And now Brigitte Bardot’s Art Nouveau apartment is back on the market once again for the hefty price of £5.1million (€6.1million).

But it’s not hard to see why the home once inhabited by the famous French actress and her then husband will set someone back so much – it is the definition of opulence.

Coming up for sale through LuxuryEstate.com, the property which was built in in 1902, is located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.

Featuring three bedroom/bathroom suites it’s the ideal location for a love affair in the French capital.

The house appears to be full to the brim with marble – from the floors to pillars creating a very expensive feel.

When the weather is nice the property owner can sit for hours in the beautiful inner city courtyard garden.

But it’s when night falls that the apartment really comes alive as it features a large Billiards room, which has no doubt seen a lot over the years.

And the Pièce de résistance is the oval shaped, glass-roofed discothèque, which was inspired by the iconic Chez Régine club in Paris.

Brigitte,  who starred in And God Created Woman,  married German millionaire Gunter in 1966.

Gunter famously seduced her by dropping hundreds of red roses over her beach house in St Tropez from his helicopter before diving into the sea and swimming ashore.

However just three years later the love affair was over following a series of affairs on both sides and they divorced in 1969, while remaining friends.

One of her many lovers over this period included Serge Gainsbourg, with whom she recorded the first version of Je t'aime... moi non plus’.

An end of terrace home in London is set to become the most expensive property ever sold in the UK after it went on the market for £250million.

The six-storey Grade I listed Regency mansion is a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace and boasts 50,000 sq ft of living space, making it one of the capital’s largest private homes.

Central: The house is within easy walking distance of Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus

Reports yesterday suggested that a ‘strictly confidential’ brochure, which describes 18 Carlton House Terrace as ‘probably the finest residence in London’, has been circulating among the super-wealthy.

For security reasons it shows only black and white photographs from the 1890s. Details on the interior are sketchy, but there is believed to be a magnificent double staircase and a huge ballroom.

The house is registered in the British Virgin Islands and is said to be owned by a member of a Middle East royal family.

Property expert Henry Pryor, who pointed out that the ‘nearest corner shop will be Fortnum & Mason’, said: ‘I think it will almost certainly be bought by a foreign buyer.’

LONDON'S MEGA-PRICEY PROPERTY

If 18 Carlton House Terrace reaches its £250million asking price, it will be the UK's most expensive home - but it is not the only super-pricey property to reach the market in the past year.

Last autumn, a huge house at Rutland Gate overlooking Hyde Park was put on sale for £300million, although its price was slashed when it failed to find a buyer.

Around the same time, 1 Cornwall Terrace, opposite Regent's Park, was advertised for £100million, which estate agents said was the highest price ever asked for a terraced house.

Outside Central London, Heath Hall in Hampstead was also marketed at £100million - which later had to be lowered to £65million.
Cambridge House on Piccadilly, formerly home to the In and Out Club, is currently being renovated and could fetch more than £200million when it is sold.

The property is 1,537 times more expensive than the average house sold last month in the UK, which was worth £162,606. At the asking price, the buyer will face a £17.5million bill for stamp duty.

Details on the property's interior are sketchy, it is believed to boast a magnificent double staircase and huge ballroom.

The secret brochure apparently shows interior photographs which were taken in the 1890s, because the current owner does not want to advertise the contents of his home for security reasons.

The property is registered in the British Virgin Islands, and said to be owned by a member of the Saudi royal family.

Despite the shaky economic recovery, 2012 was a record year for sales in London worth more than £5million, according to research by estate agent Savills.

Last year, more than 400 properties were sold over that threshold, up from 350 in 2011.

With so many properties now fetching nine-figure sums, oligarchs might be tempted to move to Kensington's Egerton Crescent, Britain's priciest street - where they can pick up a bargain with the average house costing just £8million.

Film director Michael Winner’s beloved mansion has long divided opinion thanks to its extravagant décor and almost ludicrous scale. Some (including Jan Moir in this paper) called it garish; others opulent. 

Now, as the 47-room mansion in West London's Holland Park goes on the market, the interior can be revealed in all its glory so readers can judge for themselves. 

Winner spent millions renovating Woodland House after buying it as a set of flats and reinstating the building to its former grandeur.

These pictures reveal the palatial size and extravagant luxury with which the residence was decorated - a real reflection of the larger-than-life personality of Winner, who passed away in January this year.

The numerous floor to ceiling windows are one of the crowning features in the main bedroom, and bathe the double bed and canopy with natural light throughout the day

Flamboyant: The house was once owned by famous Victorian artist Sir Luke Fildes and still recalls the exuberant glamour of upper-class Victorian life in many of its 47 rooms 

The director and restaurant critic’s extrovert personality made him a national treasure during his lifetime.

When Edward VII sat for a portrait in Fildes’s studio - which became Winner’s bedroom - he described it as ‘one of the finest rooms in London’.

The house sits on the bend of a leafy crescent in Kensington and was built in the Queen Anne style by Richard Norman Shaw for a Victorian artist called Sir Luke Fildes.

The house was originally three flats, which were bought by Winner's property magnate father, George, and it remains leasehold. The freeholder is Charlotte Townsend, one of Britain's richest women.

Winner took possession of the house in 1978 when it was still flats and spent millions creating an opulent home, complete with swimming pool, cinema and extensive gardens, which he loved.

Some of the rooms were created by interior designer Tessa Kennedy and some by Winner himself, and contain lavish fabrics and decorations as well as collections of objets d’art.

The house and gardens have more than 3,400 electric bulbs in them, and the garden is lit up so dramatically that Winner used to joke that his house was visible from space.

The house boasts an impressive history, with the home cinema reportedly being the venue where Warren Beatty once snogged Michelle Phillips, the Mamas And Papas singer, while Winner and his then girlfriend were trying to watch The Day Of The Locust. 

Despite making the Victorian marvel a regular feature in celebrity and architectural magazines down the years, Winner was looking to sell the house in his later years.

It was originally his wish that it be taken over by the local council and become a museum, but the council declined, saying they could not afford to run it.

Now, with the house on the market again, it has been reported that a buyer has put in a bid said to be around £50 million. The sale has yet to be finalised.

The famously extravagant South Beach mansion once belonging to the late and great fashion designer, Gianni Versace, has been put on the market for a mind-blowing $125million.

Known as Casa Casuarina, the ten bedroom 11 bathroom palace on the exclusive Miami Beach strip of South Beach is being sold by its current owner, telecom magnate Peter Loftin.

The telecom entrepreneur bought the luxury mansion in 2000 and converted the residence into a boutique hotel and private club in 2009.

Design marvel: Though the designer behind Villa by Barton G, refurbished the 23,000 square foot space, the style is very much in keeping with the lavish tastes of its former owner

Those who have toured the incredible property maintain that the once gold-lined swimming pool and museum quality frescoes are just a few of the lavish features that contribute to the hefty price tag.

In fact, such is its value, property experts refer to the luxurious villa as a 'trophy property', reports the Wall Street Journal.

Palatial: Peter Loftin, a telecom entrepreneur, bought the mansion in 2000 and resided there before its conversion into a boutique hotel in 2009

Boutique: The Versace motif remains on the floor of one of the hotel suites, a tribute to the designer who spent $33million renovating and expanding the property after he bought it in 1992

Prints and patterns: The villa was originally built in the 1930s by architect Alden Freeman as an homage to the oldest existing house in the western hemisphere in Santo Domingo

The now legendary Italian designer bought Casa Casuarina in 1992 for just under $10million after allegedly passing by and falling in love with it.

Originally built in the 1930s by architect Alden Freeman, the Miami Beach property was somewhat dilapidated until Mr Versace invested $33million into restoring and improving the property.

Once an architect himself, the flamboyant designer added a 6,100 square foot south wing and a 54ft pool lined with 24-karat-gold.

The impressive courtyard he covered in thousands upon thousands of individual mosaic tiles while elaborate frescoes were painted across the property's walls and ceilings.

Indeed it was Mr Versace's pride and joy until the fateful June day of 1997 when Andrew Cunanan assassinated him in cold blood on the very steps of the house. 

Icon: Missed by the fashion world, the late Gianni Versace was once an architect

When Donatella Versace scrambled to sell off the designer's assets, Mr Loftin gained from a quick bargain and bought the villa for a cool $20million.

After residing there himself for a number of years, he turned the opulent property into a boutique hotel.

The property is now known as Villa by Barton G after the events impresario Barton G. Weiss who renovated and re-styled it .

Nowadays, according to the hotel's website, the decor 'takes up style where fashion designer Gianni Versace left off.'

Boasting 23,400sq feet, the ornate house includes seven fireplaces, a guest house and a parking garage large enough for a dozen cars, and all within a one acre plot.

For the past three years hotel guests have enjoyed the surrounding attractions of Miami's historic Art Deco district while re-energising from the day poolside or in one of two of the residence's lounges.

Coldwell Banker's Jill Eber and Jill Hertzberg, known to many as 'The Jills' are representing Mr. Loftin in the sale. 

'Miami is now seeing prices like it's never seen before, with an influx of international buyers, so it's the perfect time to sell this trophy property,' Ms Eber told the Wall Street Journal.
