Selena Gomez may be one of the biggest household names in the world, but even she fangirls over her favourite actresses.

And she got to meet one of her heroes, Jennifer Aniston, 45, at a party to celebrate the Friends star's new film Cake in Los Angeles on Friday night.

Selena, 22, and Jennifer certainly seemed to get on well as they hugged in a photo taken after a special screening of the movie at Directors Guild Of America.

Both actresses wore black to the party hosted by Perrier-Jouet And Cinelou Films at Chateau Marmont's Bar, and Selena made sure to get a picture for her Instagram account.

The Spring Breakers star wrote: 'I have not only been following her career as a fan since I was 8 and now get to watch her completely transform in her new movie CAKE, I have gotten to have real conversations with such a real heart, made my entire year. #cake #goseeit'

Aniston's new film has certainly drummed up some Oscar buzz for the actress known more for her comedy work than dramatic.

In the film she plays a woman who suffers from chronic pain and after seeing visions of a member of her support group who committed suicide, seeks out the dead woman's husband.

The film features a stellar ensemble cast including Anna Kendrick, Sam Worthington, William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman and Mamie Gummer (daughter of Meryl Streep). 

The Oscar talk hasn't been too comfortable for Jennifer, who told the New York Post's Confidenti@l: that the praise is 'awkward and I'm flattered and humbled.'

Speaking of her transformation into the scarred Claire Simmons, the actress said: 'I gave myself about six weeks to really just disappear and connect with (the character) and this trauma, which is unthinkable.

'And I was just so excited and I ticked all the boxes in the actor dream role.'

Cake is out in US cinemas for a limited release this December but will go nationwide in January 2015 and in the UK on 20 February

Prepare to be Charmed all over again! Bewitching '90s series to get magical reboot

If you you were bewitched by the Halliwell sisters in the '90s... you're in for a treat. 

Just in time for Halloween, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that CBS is working on a 're-imagining' of the series about three sisters trying to live quietly in surburbia... with magical powers.

The original American series, which ran from 1998 to 2006, starred Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano.

Capers without capes: Rose McGowan, Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano starred in this very modern take on the world of witchcraft 

Rose McGowan replaced Doherty after season three to become one of the recognisable faces of the long-running favourite. 

The new version show could do with a wave of a magic wand, however, as there's reportedly only a script at play for the moment. 

No pilot has yet been commissioned according to The Wrap. 

It's a kind of magic: Alyssa, Holly and Rose charmed a generation but will their successors? 

Magical realms: The girls tried to live a normal life but became constantly embroiled in fantastical adventures 

However, writers Chris Keyser and Sydney Sidner are attached to the project and listed as executive producers.  

Not everyone is happy about the project, however. 

Original star Milano, 40, Tweeted that she thinks it's too soon after the original for a remake.

She wrote: 'The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is... it just... it feels like yesterday. It feels too close.'

While other commentators on Twitter remarked that the supernatural sphere is well covered in television these days, whereas Charmed was something of a novelty when it arrived on our screens 15 years ago.

She might have worn a plunging neckline but attention was firmly focusing on Britney Spears' new darker locks as she arrived at the Elton John AIDS foundation Oscar party on Sunday night. 

The 31-year-old singer debuted her new hair colour, a glossy chocolate brown hue, as she posed up on the red carpet at the star-studded event. 

Britney's hair even drew attention away from the low cut of her glittering black Michael Cinco Couture dress, a floor-length number that was slashed almost to the navel.

Britney opted for minimal jewellery, wearing just a pair of earrings a cuff bracelet and a ring for the occasion. 

The singer cut a trim figure in the elegant gown, smiling widely as she joined stars including Heidi Klum and Miley Cyrus at Elton's bash. 

When it came to her make-up, Scream and Shout singer Britney opted for a smokey eye and a bronzed complexion, but it was her new hairstyle that proved the talking point of the evening.

However, following the break-up in early January, Britney doesn't appear to have stayed single for long and was recently romantically linked to a new man called David - a field researcher at a law firm.

The pair were spotted on the golf course recently after having spent Valentine's Day together at a sushi restaurant.

Britney was just one of the stars who made an appearance at the 2013 Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, held at the Pacific Design Center. 

But she did spend time with party host Elton John and his partner David Furnish with the trio posing together for a series of pictures.

Heidi Klum, Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus and Nikki Minaj were among the other guests at the lavish bash.

Another musical star at the party was Chris Brown, who seems to have re-entered public life to a warm reception since being charged with the assault of on-off girlfriend Rihanna, who was absent from the occasion.

Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jim Carrey were among the stars who posed up with Chris inside the party.

But Chris couldn't entirely get away from his criminal past, as Oscars host Seth MacFarlane poked fun at the singer's relationship with Rihanna during the ceremony. 

Introducing the film Django Unchained, MacFarlane said: 'This is the story of a man fighting to get back his woman, who's been subjected to unthinkable violence. Or as Chris Brown and Rihanna call it, a date movie.'

Laughs were heard, but are said to have only come from Seth's direction.

She turned 24 on Friday and enjoyed a romantic evening in New York City with boyfriend Austin Butler.

But on Monday Vanessa Hudgens was stepping out solo - and turning heads - in a black lace number at a charity event.

The former High School Musical star updated her fit-and-flare dress with a matching blazer, booties, and tights which had a sexy vine pattern scaling her legs.

Vanessa was among guests at the Charity Meets Fashion Holiday Celebration for Honor Vitea, a non-profit organisation helping to raise funds for displaced children around the world.

The event featured a photography exhibition and a fashion show, with looks by menswear designer George Nazgaide.

Model Jessica White was also in attendance.

Playfully posing for photographers, she kicked a leg up and held up a full champagne glass as she joined other guests in an elevator.

Rose McGowan echoed Vanessa's style in all black.

Meanwhile, Vanessa's outing on Monday came days after she celebrated her 24th year with her actor boyfriend, Austin.

The couple were pictured bundled up on the roof of New York's iconic Empire State Building, with the beautiful skyline and the spectacular city lights to enjoy.

The pair managed to keep their lovey-dovey behavior on the back burner while taking in the Los Angeles Lakers vs New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden on Thursday.

Instead, Vanessa was seen clinging to Austin's arm with her head on his shoulder as she watched the players in action.

The actress' budding career seems to be right on track as well.

She has four films set to release in the coming months, including Spring Breakers, about four girls who end up in jail after robbing a restaurant, only to be freed by a drug and arms dealer who gets them to do his shady work.

She will also feature in Machete Kills, Gimme Shelter and The Frozen Ground, set for release next year.
