'Real girl' role-model Jennifer Lawrence photoshopped to look THINNER on Flare magazine cover

Skinny scandal: 'Real girl' role-model Jennifer Lawrence photoshopped to look THINNER on Flare magazine cover

Jennifer Lawrence and Flare magazine have come under fire after before and after images appeared of her 2011 cover that clearly show the Oscar-winning actress was photoshopped to look thinner.
The star, who has openly spoken out about her body confidence and desire to look healthy, has been slimmed down in several places including her hips, waist and face.
The star’s collarbones have been accentuated and her neck lengthened to give her a less-curvy more defined silhouette.

During the interview with Flare, entitled A Star Is Born,  Jennifer spoke about her body image and said she’d prefer to look like a real person.
She said: ‘I’d rather look a little chubby on camera and look like a person in real life, than to look great onscreen and look like a scarecrow in real life.’
It’s unknown whether or not the actress knows about the airbrushing saga but from the GIF that’s surfaced online it’s clear to see she’s been slimmed down.

The star recently spoke out about her normal body image and the pressure to lose weight for her role in The Hunger Games.
She told the BBC: ‘When we were doing the first The Hunger Games, it was a big discussion, 'cause it's called The Hunger Games—she's from District 12, she's obviously underfed, so she would be incredibly thin. But, I just kept saying, 'We have the ability to control this image that young girls are going to be seeing.’
‘Girls see enough of this body that we can't imitate, that we'll never be able to obtain, these unrealistic expectations, and this is gonna be their hero, and we have control over that.’

The star also spoke to Yahoo about the media's representation of women and the judgement of celebrities today.
She said: 'There are shows like The Fashion Police that are just showing these generations of young people to judge people based on all the wrong values and that it's OK to point at people and call them ugly or fat.
'They call it fun and they say 'welcome to the real world' and that shouldn't be the real world, it's going to continue being the real world if we keep it that way.'
She added: 'We have to stop treating each other like that and stop calling each other fat.'
The photoshopping scandal has taken over the twittersphere and fans are up in arms that their ‘normal’ role model was airbrushed to look thinner.
Karyn Spencer said: ‘The sad thing about this airbrushing reveal is that NONE OF IT is necessary. barbie doll standards, ick.’
And Damien van Herp agreed: ‘Jennifer Lawrence, the only girl who is less beautiful thanks to Photoshop.’
MailOnline have contact Jennifer Lawrence’s representative for comment.
