Kate Beckinsale looks stunning in white tweed top and pencil skirt as she attends the announcement of an $8 billion film park in China

|
But even someone as naturally glamourous as Kate, made sure she pulled out all the stops with her outfit for the announcement of an $8 million Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis in China - the biggest single investment ever in the movie and TV industry.
The 40-year-old was dressed head-to-toe in white tweed, with a cropped short-sleeved top, a pencil skirt and a black waistband.

Wearing only a pair of black drop earrings, the British actress accompanied the ensemble with a pair of pointed red stiletto heels and simple a radiant, sun-kissed glow.
She fixed her hair in a classically 60s bouffant, fixing it up with a black headband to hold it in place, whilst leaving out some delicate loose curls to frame her face.
Kate shook hands with fans during the red carpet event to promote Wanda Group's proposed film park.

Kate was joined by actor Leonardo DiCaprio among others at the celebrations of the proposed 'motion picture city,' to be build on the outskirts of Qingdao, Shandong province on Sunday.
The film studio will be located in the western part of the Chinese coastal city of Qingdao, and is to be built with a total investment of 50 billion yuan ($8.1 billion), announced the Wanda Group.
It will cover 376 hectares (900 acres) on the outskirts of the city, famous for its beer, and the yet-to-be constructed facilities will include 20 studios, the world's first underwater studio, a convention and exhibition complex, a shopping mall with an indoor amusement park, seven resort hotels and even a yacht club with 300 berths.

Oriental Movie Metropolis has also been billed as the largest in the world amid hopes that it will produce some 200 films per year.
'The Oriental Movie Metropolis is a major step in China's strategy to become a global cultural powerhouse,' Wang told the said in an interview on the sidelines of Sunday's ceremony.
The site, bought by China's richest man, property developer Wang Jianlin, 58, founder of Dalian Wanda Group, has been billed as China's answer to Hollywood, and even attracted the likes of John Travolta, Nicole Kidman and Catherine Zeta-Jones to the city.

Welsh star, Catherine Zeta-Jones, 43, looked radiant and wore a wide smile at the event, wearing a floor length, silver and red flower patterned gown.
She carried a red clutch bag and wore her raven black hair in loose waves and wore minimal jewellery, wearing delicate drop earrings and what looked to be her wedding ring.
Nicole Kidman, 46, also looked elegant in her chosen androgynous look for the event, wearing a sheer black shirt, white jacket and black trousers.
She tied her long red locks back into a tight bun and accessorised with just a pair of gold hoop earrings.

Representing the Hollywood actors was none other than Leonardo DiCaprio, who looked dapper in a tailored black suit, white shirt, black tie, and black patent loafers.
He slicked his blonde hair back and sported a small goatee whilst he signed autographs for fans at the event.
John Travolta, 59, also could not be left out of the momentous occasion, turning up to the event looking smart in a black suit, blue shirt, black tie and black loafers and was clean-shaved for the landmark announcement.

MailOnline goes inside the Annual Vanity Fair Oscars bash

How the other half... party! MailOnline goes inside the Annual Vanity Fair Oscars bash

|
It is a quandry indeed.
When Jennifer Aniston's voluminous red gown is blocking your way, do you pluck up the courage to ask one of Hollywood's most famous women to ever so kindly pick up her train?
It's a predicament that you'll ever only really face at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, and so I gently tap Miss Aniston on the shoulder as I join a room filled with stars who seem mightily relieved to be able to kick back and relax after an unprecedented four hours at the Academy Awards ceremony.
Golden ticket! All the A-Listers headed to the Vanity Fair Party after the Oscars ceremony

The Friends star - a presenter at the awards ceremony - has been busy cuddling her very dashing fiance Justin Theroux, but turns around and gasps 'Oh I'm so sorry! oh excuse me!'. When I tell her that her Valentino gown looked stunning on camera, she smiles and pinches my arm, 'aren't you sweet', she adds.
Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman skips past after his performance alongside his Les Miserables castmates, 'nervous? me? never!' he laughs.
And nearby, Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper shrugs off his loss to Daniel Day Lewis as he chats to friends under the watchful gaze of his mother Gloria.

This time last year, he attended the party with then girlfriend Zoe Saldana - and he and his mother make more of an incongruous sight as Bradley stands at a strapping 6ft 1ins tall, while his mother must be at least a foot shorter, but seems determined to keep a watchful eye on her famous son.
However, his co-star Robert De Niro looks slightly more glum after losing out on the best supporting actor award to Christoph Waltz.
This is the scene at Hollywood's hottest Oscar night party, featuring airport style security and police barriers to bypass before you're even allowed through the doors.
And it's the only place where you'll find Dame Shirley Bassey doing the conga - and Jane Fonda queuing at a burger truck.

It will also be the only place you'll get to see Google co-founder Sergey Brin wandering around wearing 'Google Glasses' (as is his wife). But tip: if you see Sergey, don't ask to try on the augmented reality glasses 'No', he says when I ask 'everyone's asking.'
Meanwhile, Midnight Cowboy legend Jon Voight - still dashing at 74 and exceedingly charming - says 'you know more than me' when asked about his daughter Angelina Jolie's upcoming wedding to Brad Pitt.
Suddenly, a booming voice reverberates throughout the room and the wood panelled walls at the Sunset Tower Hotel 'Did you get your martini yet!' I turn around and it's John Travolta, toting his wife Kelly and daughter Ella Bleu and making a beeline for Stephen Spielberg.

No sore loser is Lincoln director Stephen, who lost out to Ben Affleck for Best Film and Ang Lee for Best Director, as he beams at John, while his wife Kate Capshaw, sporting a beehive, is cornered by fashion queen Donna Karan, who shrieks 'to die, TO DIE' at her friend's Oscar night look.
Kate gamely posed for her friend, pointing to her multi-carat diamond necklace and her hair, while waiters carry around trays full of cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery, decorated with names of films and nominees.
Just then, the man of the hour Affleck arrives and the room erupts into a cheer. Hollywood's golden boy is here, carrying his own little gold man and accompanied by his stunning wife Jennifer Garner.

Shaking my hand (which I immediately vow never to wash again), and looking slightly dazed, Ben is surrounded by friends and treated to slaps on the back 'I'm back, can you believe it' he's heard telling one pal, and his wife Jennifer tells me: 'I'm very proud, so very proud.'
Ben's followed in by Best Actress winner Jennifer Lawrence, who has changed into a slinky silver gown - far removed from the pale pink Dior ballgown she wore at the ceremony, which was so big it prompted her to fall up the stars as she went to accept her award.

The Vanity Fair party is an annual staple. It happens just once a year - just like Christmas, but with rather more spray tan, Botox and designer gowns.
It is, as its inimitable editor Graydon Carter dubbed it ‘ Vanity Fair Live’ – and it’s the only ticket that counts on Oscar night.
At the top of Tinseltown, the cream of the A-listers stride across a red carpet teaming with shrieking photographers and film crews to enter the hallowed hallways of the Sunset Tower hotel.
A recent history of the Vanity Fair party detailed the great lengths people have gone to in a bid to snag an invite.

Staff members have been bribed, while in the past bomb-sniffing dogs have even found people hiding in their best black tie beneath scaffolding, waiting to smuggle themselves in.
Keith Duval, the security chief, told the report in the March edition of Vanity Fair: 'They’d been there since the night before with bags of food and small coolers.'
Entry was once guaranteed to anyone who arrived at the party with an Oscar, guest list or no, but Duval says that changed when people started showing up with 'fake Oscars and a bodyguard, or a real Oscar that they’d bought at a pawnshop.'
Matt Ullian has been the point person at the party’s door for the past 10 years.
Among his duties are handling the 'plus-one,' 'plus-two,' 'plus-you’re-kidding-me' questions that arise when, on occasion, guests try to finagle friends into the party at the last minute. 'You wouldn’t believe how often someone shows up with extra people who we can’t let in, but the car’s already been valeted so the guest just leaves his or her excess friends standing on the sidewalk,' Ullian laughed.
The party is a fascinating mix of the old and new guard of Hollywood.

Towards the back of the room, Joan and Jackie Collins hold court while 'Gorgeous' George Hamilton stands over them. 'It's my favourite night of the year', says Joan, looking immaculate as ever.
Halle Berry and Jennifer Hudson are in close conversation, while comedian and Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy, talking to Elizabeth Banks, Seth Rogen and Oscar winner Octavia Spencer (who says Seth looks 'edible) still cannot believe her luck, adding: 'I'm crossing my fingers, I never dreamed of all this.
She's such a big hitter in Hollywood now that she's even producing three new films with husband Ben Falcone.

A presenter at the Oscars, she is still redolent in a full length-grey gown and big hair and says: 'This was going to be the only night I could get away with hair like this.'
And just when you think you've seen it all, Dame Shirley Bassey, 76, passes by me as part of a conga line as she exits the party.
And still rather dumbfounded, as a I leave, Jane Fonda struts up to the In and Out burger van parked outside the hotel with boyfriend Richard Perry and orders cheeseburgers, happy to stand in the chilly night air to wait for her number to be called.
Now that really is something you do NOT see every day...

Jennifer Lawrence shows off her sensational curves in a VERY low-cut top at star-studded Hollywood lunch

Looking like $10m! Jennifer Lawrence shows off her sensational curves in a VERY low-cut top at star-studded Hollywood lunch

|
She is receiving a whopping paycheck to appear in the Hunger Games sequel.
And Jennifer Lawrence certainly looked like several million dollars as she stepped out on the red-carpet today.
The 21-year-old put her best foot forward to attend the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's 2012 Installation Luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The Hunger Games star showed off her sensational curves in one of her trademark low-cut outfits at the star-studded event.
The actress took a walk on the wild side in a snake-skin printed dress, featuring the reptile pattern on the top and a black pencil skirt on the bottom.
Opting for no accessories, she teamed the look with a pair of simple black pointed-toe stilettos.

Simply glowing, Jennifer wore her golden locks out in a wave and flashed her million dollar smile to the cameras.
Also joining the Hollywood starlet at the event was Mad Men star Christina Hendricks.
But unlike Jennifer, and in fact unlike herself, the 37-year-old uncharacteristically covered up her curves.

She did however look incredibly chic in a sheer silk pussy bow shirt tucked into a pencil skirt.
The vintage-loving actress paired the look with some peep-toe heels and a red clutch, which almost matched her fiery red-hair.
Meanwhile, Kerry Washington injected some colour into the event, looking sweet in a sorbet pink silk organza A-line minidress featuring red stripes on the skirt.

There was lots of man power at the event too.
While his wife Kelly Preston holidays in Tahiti, John Travolta was seen mingling with guests at today's event.
The 58-year-old, who is continuing to try and put recent gay sex allegations behind him, posed with some of Hollywood's other leading men, including Bradley Cooper and Dustin Hoffman.
But it was certainly Jennifer who stole the limelight at today's event, and in probably more ways than one.
This week it was reported that the young star had secured a $10m deal to appear in the Hunger Games sequel.
Jennifer managed to secure a $9.5m pay rise, having been paid just $500,000 for the first movie.

The Hollywood Reporter explained that the figure is a combination of 'salary, bonuses and escalators', but if the movie does well at the box office, she could earn significantly more than $10million.
Following the news, Jennifer's co-stars were left hungry for more after learning of the astonishing deal.
Liam Hemsworth, 22, and Josh Hutcherson, 19, have apparently been offered $2m each to star in the Catching Fire follow-up.

But the pair are apparently driving a hard bargain, and demanding $5m each, threatening to walk if their requests are not met, according to RadarOnline.
Australian actor Liam and U.S. star Josh are said to be trying to thrash out a better deal with the studio, Lionsgate.
A source told RadarOnline: 'They’re not demanding as much as Jennifer, they’re aware she plays a bigger role in the films, but they want a little more than the $2 million they were each offered.

'With the success of the first movie, they feel that $5 million is a more suitable fee and are haggling with the studio before dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on their deals.
'And they have even said they may not return for the sequel, which they hope will be a bargaining chip for a bigger pay packet.'
The insider said the pair got wind of Jennifer's huge pay rise, prompting them to up their price.
Jennifer, who plays Katniss Everdeen, has signed a contract to appear in all four Hunger Games movies - the sequel Catching Fire and the final book Mockingjay, which is set to be split into two films.
Production on Catching Fire is set to begin in September, with a tentative release date slated for November 2013.
The first movie was a box office smash, and took a staggering $673m in ticket sales worldwide.
