She is now a single woman following her split from crooner Robin Thicke after nine years of marriage.

But Paula Patton certainly doesn't seem to be singing the blues.

The 38-year-old beauty was seen with a huge smile on her face as she left her hotel in the Soho neighbourhood of New York City on Friday night.

She certainly seemed to be single and ready to mingle as she flaunted her ample assets in a low-cut top while heading out for a night on the town.

The mom-of-one donned a red, white and black checked flannel jacket over the dark grey top that exposed a hint of a black leather bra underneath and finished the look with a pair of skinny black jeans featuring tears on the knees and black suede booties.

The Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol star accessorised with a black handbag and a silver necklace with an angel wing pendant.

The beauty let her brunette locks down in messy waves and she had natural, complementary covering of make-up on her face highlighted by a swipe of glossy rose lipstick.

She certainly looked like the cat that got the cream as she beamed and even waved to a few fans while leaving the building.

Paula certainly seems to be living it up in the Big Apple in the midst of her very public divorce as she was seen leaving the same Soho hotel on several different occasions since Tuesday.

Paula - who still refers to herself as: 'Actress, mom, wife of the amazing, brilliant, genius @RobinThicke' on her Twitter page - filed for divorce citing 'irreconcilable differences' two weeks ago, having been separated for seven months.

While she is asking for joint custody of their son, Julian Fuego, four, Robin appears to be more concerned with celebrating, as it was reported this week that he threw a bash to honour his new single status as the papers were being issued.

According to Page Six, Robin allegedly held the divorce party on Friday at a nightclub in Los Angeles before moving on to his home in the Hollywood Hills where he was joined by Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy and bevvy of attractive models.

In February, when the couple announced their split, People magazine was told: 'We will always love each other and be best friends. However, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.'

Eight months on, Paula looked like she was bouncing back from the heartache she'd suffered at the hands of infidelity rumours and Robin's drug and alcohol problems.

Beyonce has topped this year's MTV Video Music Awards nominations.

The singer is up for eight moonman trophies, including video of the year for Drunk in Love. Iggy Azalea and Eminem are nominated for seven awards each.

Pharrell is the only male nominated for the top prize. Along with Beyonce, his Happy will compete with Azalea's Fancy, Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball and Sia's Chandelier for video of the year.

Beyonce's Partition is nominated for best female video and cinematography, while the Jay Z-featured Drunk in Love is up for best collaboration. 

Both songs are from Beyonce's self-titled fifth album, which she released in surprise form last year with all of the tracks' music videos.

'This album was a labor of love and she had such a vision of wanting to be able to tell the story of this album visually as well as audio,' said Lee Anne Callahan-Longo, general manager of Beyonce's production house, Parkwood Entertainment. 'She really, really set out to do something special in a visual medium.'

Beyonce's Pretty Hurts, a video displaying women's body issues and insecurities, is nominated for best direction, editing and video with a social message.

Azalea is still riding high on the success of Fancy, which spent seven weeks on top of the Billboard charts and is nominated for best pop video and female video. 

The Australian performer will compete twice in both categories thanks to her other hit, the Ariana Grande smash Problem.

The rapper is not nominated for best hip-hop video, though.

Eminem's seven nominations include the latter and best male video, where he will compete with Pharrell, John Legend, Ed Sheeran and newcomer Sam Smith.

The VMAs will air live Aug. 24 from The Forum in Inglewood, California. Performers will include Grande, Usher and 5 Seconds of Summer.

It's been almost three months since it was announced Paula Patton had split from her singer husband Robin Thicke.

In the June issue of Vanity Fair, the 38-year-old actress talked for the first time about the Blurred Lines hit maker, who raised eyebrows in 2013 by openly flirting with other women soon after he let Miley Cyrus grind on him at the MTV Music Video Awards.

'We've known each other since we were teenagers,' the beauty opened up to the publication, which also printed a sizzling photo of the star that showed her estranged spouse what he was missing. 'All I can tell you is there's a deep love there - always was, and always will be.'

The Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol star met Robin when she was only 15-years-old.

They didn't wed until eight years ago, however.

The couple have a son Julian, who is aged three.

She recalled the 37-year-old sang Jodeci's Forever My Lady before they shared their first kiss in her parents' living room.

She told the monthly, which had Jon Hamm on its cover, 'He wasn't my first kiss but he was my first lots of other things.'

For her glamorous photo by Ralph Mecke, which ran in the magazine's Spotlight section, the Deja Vu actress wore nothing but a pair of pale pink Eres underpants, a beige fur Givenchy jacket and hot pink pointy Louboutin pumps.

The jacket opened to show her bare chest as she propped herself up with one hand while her legs rested on a white and turquoise green table.

Her hair was teased and sprayed Valley Of The Dolls style and she wore cotton candy colored lipstick.

In early March TMZ reported the stunner was considering taking back the son of Alan Thicke.

'The two of them are now talking about what Robin needs to do to convince Paula that the marriage can work to her satisfaction,' a source said.

It was also noted she hadn't yet hired a divorce attorney.

They maintained a happy image: In October the couple seemed just fine though there were rumors a split was on the way

Another source added Paula has yet to feel convinced by Robin's efforts to prove he can be a good husband.

For the past several months she has been spotted out alone, most recently in Vancouver on April 27.

Patton also talked to Vanity Fair about how she began her career in film production before eventually getting into acting.

'I felt uncomfortable in my own skin, so I liked the other side of the camera,' she said. 'It took till I was 27 to say, "You only have one life to live, so you might as well see if you can go and act."'

A year after making that decision she landed a coveted role opposite Will Smith in the 2005 blockbuster Hitch.

They announced their separation on Monday and it appears Paula Patton is handling her split from Robin Thicke rather well.

The actress didn't show any signs of heartbreak at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday. 

Instead, Paula spent her evening cosying up to her Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol co-star Jeremy Renner, and the pair looked very happy together as they posed backstage for the cameras.

The 38-year-old and the actor, 43, were also presenting an award together during the ceremony, and stepped onstage arm-in-arm.

It's no surprise that Jeremy looked like the cat that got the cream as he snuggled up to his old friend Paula, as she looked sensational while making her red carpet debut as a single woman.

Paula showed off her lean legs in a sheer lace yellow mini dress at the event, held in Santa Monica, California.

The canary colour highlighted her dark locks, which were tucked behind her ears, and olive skin tone.

According to Us Weekly, Paula was grooving to the music during an after party for the awards at the 1Oak nightclub in West Hollywood when Robin's hit song Blurred Lines came on.

An eyewitness for the weekly said despite the track playing she continued to dance: 'She appeared unfazed and didn't let it ruin her evening.'

However, it's a completely different story for her estranged husband of eight years.

The entertainer has been on a mission to get her back, sending her a constant stream of floral arrangements that were seen being delivered to Paula's Hollywood Hills house on Thursday, and it was clear that no expense was spared on the gesture.

The flower deliveries coincided with his emotional performance on Thursday evening in Fairfax, Virginia where he dedicated a song to Paula.

And Robin reiterated his desire to get back together with her in an emotional tribute to the actress in his first concert since their split, although TMZ say sources close to the couple say Paula was 'unimpressed.'

The singer then sang Lost Without U after admitting he had written the song for his wife.

The father-of-one had canceled three concerts following their separation.

The couple told People magazine in a joint statement on Monday: 'We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.'

Paula is said to have called time on the marriage last Friday and wasn't moved by her spouse's last ditch attempt to persuade her differently.

He flew to Canada, where she was filming, but the grand gesture didn't change the mother-of-one's mind. 

Paula and Robin have one son together, Julian, who is almost three.
