'They were invented to make you feel bad about yourself': W cover girl Keira Knightley on why she hates skinny jeans
By MIKE LARKIN
She is world renowned for the slender frame that has made her much beloved by fashion designers.
So it will come as a shock to many to discover Kieira Knightley despises wearing the micro-skirts and skinny jeans that show off her incredible physique.
The 27-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star made the admission in this months edition of fashion magazine W, in which she is the cover star.
She's a jean-ius: Keira Knightley revealed she hates skinny jeans and micro-skirts in this month's W magazine
Talking about trends from the last decade she dislikes, she said: 'I think skinny jeans and micro-miniskirts are very unfriendly.
'I've been known to wear both, but on some days it seems like they were invented to make you feel bad about yourself.'
Keira is the face of the 2000s in the special 40th anniversary issue of the influential style publication.
For her cover appearance she wore a Chanel braided tweed jacket, and luxurious white gold, ruby and diamond earrings.
Skirting the issue: Despite wearing revealing micros and skinny jeans she is far from a fan of the garments
Despite being cast as a modern girl by the magazine, she spent months parading around in a corset for forthcoming Tolstoy adaptation Anna Karenina.
But despite starring in a string of blockbusters, Keira also revealed she prefers more offbeat fare when she munches on popcorn.
She said: 'I have two (favourite films). The Beat that My Heart Skipped is a French film that I've watched again and again.
'It's so rough and yet still kind of beautiful. I love the juxtaposition of serenity and violence.
'And My Life Without Me is understated and heartbreaking. The fact that the main character doesn't tell anyone she's very ill, it just gets me every time.'
