Body confidence advocate Jennifer Lawrence says she refuses to 'be hungry to make other people happy'

'That's just dumb': Body confidence advocate Jennifer Lawrence says she refuses to 'be hungry to make other people happy' as she discusses her weight

She's been frank in the past when it comes to discussing the expectations Hollywood has on women in the industry when it comes to their weight.
And once again Jennifer Lawrence hasn't held back during an interview with Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer on Thursday as part of her Hunger Games promotional tour.
The 23-year-old slammed the notion of women being made to think that they have to look like 'perfect models' or being 'hungry to make other people happy'.

'The world has this idea that if you don't look like an airbrushed perfect model. You have to see past it. You look how you look, you have to be comfortable,' she said during the Q&A.
'What are you going to do? Be hungry every single day to make other people happy? That's just dumb.'
The young star then went on to criticise television programmes such as E!'s Fashion Police that  revolve around 'judging people'.

'There are shows like "The Fashion Police" that are just showing these generations of young people to judge people based on all the wrong values and that it's OK to point at people and call them ugly or fat,' she further explained.
'They call it "fun" and they say "welcome to the real world" - and that shouldn't be the real world, it's going to continue being the real world if we keep it that way.
'We have to stop treating each other like that and stop calling each other fat.'

Jennifer is fast becoming an advocate for positive body image with her refreshingly honest and candid views on the subject matter.
In this months Harper's Bazaar, she told the magazine that she often fell out of favour with some in her industry for her weight.
Despite looking in amazing shape, she admitted she had been told in the past that she was 'fat' and advised to lose some pounds.

Jennifer said: 'It was just the kind of s**t that actresses have to go through. Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn’t lose a certain amount of weight.
'They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet. They thought that because of the way my career had gone, it wouldn’t still hurt me.'
While when she was the younger the words would hurt her, Jennifer said she was now confident enough to stand her ground.

She added: 'If anybody even tries to whisper the word "diet", I’m like, "You can go f*** yourself."'
Last year, Jennifer also famously told U.S. Elle that she would never starve herself for a film role.
'I eat like a caveman. I’ll be the only actress who doesn’t have anorexia rumors,' she said.
She ensured that not even a film role could persuade her to shed weight.
She explained: 'I'm never going to starve myself for a part. I keep waiting for that one role to come along that scares me enough into dieting, and it just can’t happen. I'm invincible.'
The actress said she wanted to be a good role model for her fans.
'I don’t want little girls to be like, "Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner."' she said.
'That’s something that I was really conscious of during training, when you’re trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong, not thin and underfed.'
