Crock stars! As Phil Collins puts his ageing face on his classic album covers, how other singers would look if they did the same
Phil Collins broke new ground when he re-released his back catalogue of albums earlier this month — complete with recreations of the classic covers using up-to-date photographs of his face.
Collins, 65, seems to have weathered fairly well since he first stormed the charts as a solo artist 35 years ago, barring a few inevitable wrinkles.
So we wondered how some of our other music legends would fare if their albums were given the same treatment. Obviously, the music stands the test of time, but what about their faces...
Face values: Genesis star Phil Collins on his 1981 solo album - and as he is today
One way or another: Debbie Harry in 1977 and still astonishingly glamorous aged 70
Hair today, gone tomorrow: The wonderfully eccentric Peter Gabriel in 1986 and at 66
It ain't me, babe: Bob Dylan on the Blonde LP in 1966 and again aged 74
Live and let dye: A hirsute Paul McCartney in 1970 and banishing the grey today at 73
Mellow fellow: Donovan in the sixties and now quite the same Sunshine Superman at 69
Just the way you are: Billy Joel on his first album in 1971 and a little thinner on top at 66
Another time, another place: Bryan Ferry the style icon in 1974 and again aged 70
The babooshka grows up: Kate Bush in the seventies and still gorgeous at 57
Simply the best: Tine Turner in the seventies and still better than all the rest at 76
A calmer chameleon: Wild Boy George in 1982 and still remarkably fresh-faced aged 54
It is unusual: Tom Jones was melting female hearts in 1965 and is still a Sex Bomb at 75
Slip slidin' away into their dotage: Simon and Garfunkel in 1968 and today both aged 74
Stone age: Time's rolled on since 1976 for Jagger and Richards, both 72, and Wyman, 79
The young one: Cliff Richard was the Peter Pan of pop, but at 75, time is catching him up
Comprehensive cover: Iggy Pop, 69, is more famous for his car insurance TV ads today
Talkin' about my medication: But Who guitarist Pete Townshend is still cutting a dash at 70
It's a mystery: Toyah Willcox, 57, just needs make-up to recapture her eighties look
