She was presented with a prestigious BFI Fellowship last year.

So Cate Blanchett was naturally the guest of honour at the IWC Schaffhausen Dinner in Honour of the BFI at Rosewood London on Wednesday night, turning heads in a dramatic dress.

The 47-year-old actress looked incredible in the ruffled number, featuring eye-catching ruching on the shoulders and a low-cut neckline.

The striking garment boasted a floor-length black skirt and was pulled together with a bright red bow at the waist.

Cate was the centre of attention as she made her grand arrival, adding some A-list star power to the event.

The Australian star looked elegant as ever, styling her blonde bob in perfect curls.

The glizty gala was hosted by BFI CEO Amanda Nevill and presented by comedian Rob Brydon.

The £50,000 Bursary Award is presented in recognition of outstanding British talent, supporting emerging writer or director in their fledgeling career.

This year, Joseph a. Adesunloye, Hope Dickson Leach, Alice Lowe and Paul Anton Smith are battling it out for the prize.

Ben Roberts, director of the BFI Film Fund, said: 'All four filmmakers are on very different paths in terms of their filmmaking — each has already developed an enviable confidence and style and this bursary would greatly benefit any of them.'

Also putting in a striking appearance was Mr Selfridge actress Sai Bennett, who ensured all eyes were on her in a glamorous black jumpsuit.

Sai is thought to be dating Game Of Thrones star Alfie Allen after the pair were seen hand-in-hand on a romantic stroll around Rome in February.

While Alfie seemed to enjoy himself on the trip, he couldn't resist making a joke about his ideal date, posting a picture of footballer Danny Welbeck with the caption 'Happy Valentines Day'.

Also remaining coy about her amorous trip abroad, Sai took to Instagram to share a montage of the sights she'd seen on their getaway.

The pair have so far kept tight-lipped about rumours of a romance and it is not known whether they are still together.

Sai is fresh from Paris Fashion Week, where she enjoyed a VIP invitation to the Dior show.

Less than 24 hours beforehand, she had tweeted that she was feeling 'major anxiety' while travelling.

But Selena Gomez looked to have put her worries behind her as she cut a punky figure on the red carpet at a Louis Vuitton party in London as part of London Fashion Week on Sunday evening.

The 23-year-old went for a sexy look in floor-length black leather, shrugging off her usual cute and innocent look, but still managed to smile sweetly for the cameras.

The dress, notably a style she doesn't often wear, was figure-hugging to the hips before falling down in a long, gothic-style skirt around her feet.

It was complete with a suggestive long zip all the way down the front of her body and a low-cut neckline that revealed a glimpse of her pushed-up cleavage.

Adding a further rocky vibe to the punky garment, long draped leather sleeves fell from the edges of her shoulders like a small cape, covered in staple-effect gold studs.

The beautiful singer and actress still cut a sweet figure, though, as she beamed for onlookers.

Her brunette locks were tamed into neat and tidy updo, while her make-up was understated, not at all trying to compete with the dress, which was undoubtedly the show-stealer.

She finished her evening look with a classic black Louis Vuitton clutch and, although they were barely seen under the maxi-length dress, she donned a pair of heavy, clunky black heels.

The previous evening, when getting on her flight from Miami to London to appear at the designer party, as part of London Fashion Week, she had shared to her millions of Twitter followers that she was feeling anxious.

'Had major anxiety at the airport. Not feeling good at all,' she shared.

But as soon as she arrived in London, the stunner wrote that she was feeling much better.

She tweeted: 'London!!! You make me smile. But maybe not as much as you guys do :) thank you for being insanely kind.'

Meanwhile, Selena was one of several famous faces at the Louis Vuitton Series 3 VIP launch on Sunday evening, slap bang in the middle of LFW.

The luxury brand presented an experiential digital fashion exhibition looking at the past, present and future of the brand, as envisaged by Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquiere.

Also putting in a stylish showing was model and actress - and Prince Harry's famous ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas.

The 26-year-old beauty rocked a chain-printed maxi skirt in pale blue and white shades, teamed with a high-necked white sleeveless blouse.

Her honey blonde locks were swept into a half-up, half-down style for the evening, one of the many events she has attended at the fashion fest in recent days, following her appearance with the royal at his 31st birthday earlier in the week.

Fresh from her turn at the Pan premiere earlier in the day, Cara Delevingne looked as slick as ever.
