Sara Cox is heaped with praise following elegant Waltz on Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special

'Rock 'n'roll girl turned angel': Sara Cox is heaped with praise following elegant Waltz on Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special

She was known as somewhat of a ladette during the early stages of her career.
But on Wednesday evening Sara Cox shed that label once and for all as she put on a hugely impressive and elengant performance during the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.
Performing the Waltz to Silent Night, Holy Night with professional Robin Windsor, the 39-year-old was told by Bruno: 'The rock ‘n’ roll girl turned into a Christmas angel.'

Speaking in her VT about how she spends her Christmas,  the mother-of-three revealed she always gets up early and this year she was planning on wearing a pretty dress.
Sounding a little bit apprehensive about the challenge of the dancing show, she said: ‘I’m quite lanky and clumpy at the same time’
Professional dancer Robin said: ‘Sara isn’t used to the man taking the lead.’
Transformed: Sara was the picture of elegance as she took to the dance floor in a very pretty dress

Their performance began with Sara sitting on a light-up swing. Dressed in a sparkly fitted bodice and floaty skirt she looked a far cry from her normal self.
After the dance Craig kicked off the comments, saying: ‘Well it was a little bit like a Christmas cracker that didn’t explode. Your frame left a lot to be desired, your free arm was very loose… apart from that, I thought it was perfect.’
Darcy told her: ‘It was like you were on ice, you glided effortlessly. It was beautiful controlled.'
Gliding: Darcy told the DJ her moves were so smooth it was as if she was ice skating

Len  gushed: 'For me, it was like waking up on Christmas morning and you look out of the window and it’s all bright and lovely… and there’s even a Robin! Your footwork was good, you were stepping off on your heel, I truly thought it was wonderful.'
And the comments reflected the scores as she received a seven from Craig, eight from Darcy and nine from both Len and Bruno.
However she missed out on the pole position as comedian Rufus Hound ended up in first place.

Speaking ahead of the show, Sara told The Sun: ‘I must be the only person who has done Strictly who has actually put weight on.
‘I have been so stressed about my routine and Robin’s back injury that I have been hammering the Melton Mowbrays and oven chips with salad cream! I’ve been knocking back a couple of glasses of Merlot every night as well.’
Not enough: Unfortunately the DJ didn't quite do enough to win the show
