Adele confesses she's banned from using her Twitter account after posting messages while drunk

'I nearly put my foot in it a few times': Adele confesses she's banned from using her Twitter account after posting messages while drunk

Adele is known for being able to maintain a very discreet air compared to many of her attention-seeking contemporaries.
Part of that is down to her restrained presence on social media, keeping her Twitter posts to the bare minimum.
But the 27-year-old singer - who is in the midst of making a remarkable comeback with a new album and single - admitted that she isn't actually allowed to use her Twitter account, because she used to get too 'drunk' when the social networking site first came about.

Adele, whose new single Hello has impressively topped the iTunes chart in 102 countries, was speaking on Adele At The BBC, hosted by Graham Norton.
In a segment in which the singer was given the chance to dispel rumours about her comeback, an audience member asked her if it was true that she is not allowed access to her own Twitter account.
Adele, who has almost 24m followers, replied with a laugh: 'This is true. Yeah.'
She added: 'I mean I'm not a drinker any more, but when Twitter first came out I was, like, drunk tweeting, and nearly put my foot in it quite a few times.
'This is true!' During an appearance on special programme Adele at the BBC - due to air on Friday 20 November - the 27-year-old singer responded to an audience member's question over the Twitter rumour

'So my management decided that you have to go through two people and then it has to be signed off by someone, but they're all my tweets.
'No one writes my tweets. They just post them for me. So, yeah, that's very, very true.'
In the interview, she also talks about finally making her return to music after those few years off, in which she became a mother with boyfriend Simon Koncecki to their son Angelo.
'It was that thing of, do I or don't I want to go back to my music,' she says.
'Obviously I do, and I just wanted to make sure that everything was in place for me to do it so I could do it properly.

'I can't do anything else, this is all that I like doing.'
The short clip was released ahead of the one-off, hour-long special, in which Adele will perform classic tracks as well as songs from her new album 25, and talk about her life and career.
It will be her first television performance since she performed Skyfall at the Oscars in February 2013, where she won Best Original Song for the theme tune to the James Bond film.
Adele said: 'I can't wait for the show. The BBC has been wonderful to me over the years and Graham and I get on great so it's going to be a laugh.'
Norton said: 'This is the music event of the year and I'm thrilled to be part of bringing it to BBC One. This opportunity to spend an hour with Adele, her music and her stories is a truly rare treat. If I wasn't hosting this special I'd be sat at home watching it.'
The album 25 is Adele's third and is expected to replicate the success of her previous ones 19 and 21, which alone sold more than 30 million globally.
Adele At The BBC will be broadcast on BBC One on Friday November 20 at 8.30pm.
