What happened to bootylicious Beyonce? Roberto Cavalli erases singer's famous curves in press release
- The digitally altered photo triggered dozens of comments from outraged fans, with many suggesting it portrays an 'unrealistic ideal'
It seems Beyonce's body proved too bootylicious for fashion designer Roberto Cavalli.
A press release was sent out by the fashion house on Tuesday featuring the 31-year-old pop singer in a gorgeous, flowing multi-coloured silk gown with many embellishments and cut-outs that he designed exclusively for the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.
However, the singer's natural, voluptuous body had been reduced to an obscenely skinny size, with her thighs nearly as thin as her arms.
Now that's a stretch: A press release sent out Tuesday by Roberto Cavalli featured a seriously thin image of Beyonce in a multi-colored silk gown he designed exclusively for her current world tour
Beyonce, in real-life: The 31-year-old singer and mother of one looked fantastic in the gown in real-life and entirely different from the photo in the press release
Fortunately, the press release also included photos from the actual concert, showing the differences between the digitally-altered Beyonce and the real-life star.
While fashion sketches regularly use elongated figures, the image appeared to be a strange Photoshop picture rather than a hand-drawing.
The digitally altered photograph triggered dozens of comments from outraged fans after it was posted on the Roberto Cavalli Facebook page - with many suggesting it portrays an 'unrealistic ideal'.
'I really don't get why brands force women to follow certain kind of body shapes that most people find unattractive'
One commentator wrote: 'Why would you do such a sketch that clearly doesn't reflect her shape?!
'I really don't get why brands force women to follow certain kind of body shapes that most people find unattractive. Real Beyonce figure is!'
And another added: 'If this is supposed to be a sketch of Beyonce why not actually draw Beyonce instead of some imaginative image which fits the status quo for sickly looking run way models??
'She is absolutely gorgeous just the way she is, not as she's represented in that sketch.'
Of course, Beyonce is not a fan of being airbrushed and last week controversy arose between the Grown Woman singer and international clothing retailer H&M.

After a number of images from the pop star's Summer 2013 Collection campaign were apparently altered to remove some of her curves and reflect a smaller size, Beyonce reportedly ordered executives to pull those images altogether.
The company obliged after a few discussions and ran the original photos from the shoot saying in a statement that, 'Our purpose has always been to portray Beyoncé as the strong and beautiful woman she is. It has been a good working process and a close cooperation. Both parties are happy with the images.'
The singer has yet to publicly comment on the situation.
H&M controversy: The pop singer was reportedly also at odds with executives at the international retailer for removing curves from her body in advertisements, forcing the photos to be removed from the campaign
While she might not like Photoshop, she also isn't too keen on being pictured in an unflattering light.
In February, after her lauded and fierce performance at this year's Superbowl halftime show, a number of unflattering stills of Beyonce were published by Buzzfeed, prompting her publicist to now infamously ask them to be taken down.
The natural response from the Internet was to take those seven embarrassing snaps and Photoshop them into just about ever scenario possible, ensuring their proliferation.
Not pregnant, ok? To really put the rumours of her pregnancy to rest, Beyonce wore a black and white striped top that exposed her midriff at Kanye West's birthday party on Sunday
Beyoncé, who already is mother to Blue Ivy with Jay-Z, has also been subject to pregnancy rumours since mid-May.
On Tuesday of last week Team Beyoncé shut down the rumours again telling Gayle King on CBS This Morning that she 'is absolutely positively not pregnant at this time.'
The rumour mill kicked into high gear after Beyoncé cancelled a show in Belgium due to extreme exhaustion and dehydration.
But the Run the World singer played coy earlier this week regarding speculation she is expecting her second child, joking that she hadn't heard about the rumours.
