But One Direction hunk Zayn Malik and his fiancée Perrie Edwards proved their love is as strong as ever by reuniting for a fun-filled fancy dress bash on New Year's Eve.
The showbiz sweethearts, who got engaged 16 months ago, were perfectly in character as they struck a pose as Tim Burton character Edward Scissorhands and Egyptian queen Cleopatra.

Edward Scissorhands was the perfect choice for Zayn, who is known for his quiet temperament and brooding looks.
The 21-year-old singer was virtually unrecognisable in his costume, which was a dead ringer for Johnny Depp's iconic ensemble in the 1990 dark fantasy film.
Clad head-to-toe in leather, Zayn was sporting the same deathly pale complexion - complete with cuts - birds-nest hairdo and metallic blades on his fingertips as the titular hero.

Instead of going for a his and hers theme and dressing as Winona Ryder's girl-next-door character in the film, Perrie opted for all-out glamour as Cleopatra.
The Little Mix beauty had her make-up done especially for the party, with heavy winged eyeliner and serious contouring transforming her pretty features.
Sporting a black fringed wig and an elaborate headpiece, she looked strikingly similar to the iconic historical figure in her dazzling gold ensemble.
Zayn and Perrie both shared the couple picture of them on their Instagram pages, writing: 'Happy new year from Edward and Cleopatra', with the 21-year-old blonde starlet added a few extra shots of her own.
The pair fell for each other after Perrie found fame on The X Factor in 2011, one year after One Direction had placed third on the show.
When asked last month if they had set a date for the ceremony yet, she told BANG Showbiz: 'Nope, we have no idea, we're just going with the flow.'
The Wings hit-maker also revealed she is prepared to wait until the couple have time to plan their nuptials and doesn't want to rush things.
'We'll get there eventually when we're not too busy to make it perfect,' Perrie added.
