Iconic Hat Designer Philip Treacy Gets Behind The Camera And Shoots British Actress Gemma Chan For The Investec Derby Festival 2013
The Investec Derby Festival has today revealed exclusive images of British actress and Official Face of the event, Gemma Chan who was photographed by iconic hat designer, Philip Treacy in his designs.
Internationally acclaimed makeup artist, Topolino, worked closely with Philip on the shoot to create Gemma’s unique looks.
With his creations favoured by international fashion icons including Madonna and Lady Gaga, Philip is the ultimate choice when it comes to millinery and is the Official Hat Designer for the Investec Derby Festival.
Philip commented; ‘Topolino and I worked together to create two very different makeup looks for Gemma, each complementing the millinery - the first look with the white hat represents the embodiment of enchantment and allure but the second breaks down the boundaries of convention – when it comes to hats, there is no box to be confined within, have fun with it, be colourful and stand out!’
Gemma commented; ‘Philip and Topolino are both masters in their industries and to work with them on this campaign was an amazing opportunity. I love the drama of the looks and the hats are certainly going to help spur my imagination when it comes to choosing my outfit on Derby Day!’
Gemma, a modern day fashion icon and acclaimed actress, has starred in some of Britain’s best loved television and has recently completed shooting Jack Ryan, her first Hollywood film opposite Chris Pine, Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner. Gemma will next be seen in Channel 4’s new drama series, Dates. Some of Gemma’s past credits include; Fresh Meat, Sherlock, The IT Crowd and Dr Who.
The festival, considered one of the greatest sporting and social events in the British calendar, takes place at Epsom Downs Racecourse on Friday 31 May and Saturday 1 June 2013. The world famous occasion is estimated, once again, to attract over 125,000 visitors.
